Default Futurama?

Any news on Futurama on BD? I hope that we get the rest of the movies that made up season 5 by the time the new season is done and I hope we can get that on blu too.

Anyone know if there is a possibility the other movies and / or the first 4 seasons have a chance of making it onto Blu-ray?

I would as well however I hate having incomplete series on Blu-ray (i.e. Entourage, The Office, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, ect, ect.). I haven't bought either of the Futurama movies on Blu-ray yet because I want the entire series.

I thought I had heard that we would never have that because the initial seasons weren't done in HD but that doesn't really make sense since many old animated films are now on Blu-ray. I only ask about the future of Futurama on Blu because like others, I love the show and have thought about buying the Bender Head collection on Amazon. Maybe I'll just do that either way and simply replace the DVDs in the head as they become available on Blu.

Older cartoons were colored by hand and shot on film. While film may have a dirtier appearance it has higher potential detail then HD video can support so any film shot cartoon is ready to go for Blu-Ray with alittle digital cleanup.

Futurama was mostly pencieled by hand but was colored in the computer and the colors were rendered at 640 x 480. In other words for Futurama the current DVDs are the highest resolution of the show that exists today. If they simply take the original files and upconvert them it probably won't look any better then simply upconverting the DVDs. The direct to video movies and the new episodes on Comedy Central are digitally rendered in 1080p so they are ready to go. For the older episodes to give them a proper Blu-Ray release they would require a re-render in the computer in high definition. Comedy Central is doing this for South Park so maybe they will do the same for the original episodes of Futurama as well. But Futuramas animation is more complex then South Park so it may be difficult to jusitfy the cost of re-rendering the show. Its not impossible to do Futurama on Blu-Ray but it probably is a bit off

I'm really not worried about the original episodes being on Blu-Ray. The only thing that I would really rebuy would be the first two movies, since they were made to be in HD (even though I thought the movies for the most part weren't all that great).

I will definately get the new episodes on Blu-Ray if we get a BD option upon release.
