Need either a Surround Sound System or a Sound Bar for ~$300 - Blu-ray Forum

Hi, I'm pretty new to this--not just to posting, but to the whole audio thing, so please try to bear with me.

I'm a student, so I really don't have that much money to spare, and am not looking, at least not at this very moment, to get the best of the best, just the best for my money's worth...

The sound system doesn't have to be incredibly loud at all: I have a very small room, approximately 12 X 12 feet. I have a decent HDTV: a 2009 720p 32-inch Samsung LN... something. The speakers are awful--I find myself having to turn the volume up and down while watching any kind of film, because the volume of the voices is barely audible, but the sound effects (e.g. explosions, gunfire, etc.) are way too loud. But, beside that, I'd like to experience everything Blu-Ray has to offer--not just great video quality, but sound as well. I consider myself a kind of film buff and I'd love experiencing films to the closest I can to how they were meant to be seen...

Basically, I'm looking for either a decent enough sound bar or a 5.1 Surround Sound system (I know, highly unlikely for that price, but one can hope), and I'd like your help, since I visit this site fairly regularly and I know many of you have a lot of experience with these kind of things.

Dude this thing is awesome for $300, I was shocked to see how cheap this system was because i would easily pay double for this. I have it and I highly recommend this and it got great reviews on numerous sites.
