Default Robert Zemeckis returning to live-action with "Timeless"

Quote:
For the last six years we've watched director Robert Zemeckis
try and reinvent his career by making films composed entirely of motion-capture characters. While it's hard to deny that it has been an adventurous step into technology filmmaking, the truth is that he left behind an incredible live-action resume that includes entries like Back To The Future, Forrest Gump, and Romancing The Stone. Now, however, he is taking a break from the uncanny valley.

Deadline is reporting that Zemeckis will return to live-action films with Timeless, which will also see him return to the field of time travel for the first time since the completion of the Back to the Future franchise in 1990. Written by Mike Thompson and expected to be a a major tent-pole for Warner Bros., the log line is being kept under wraps.

I sure have missed Zemeckis' live-action movies.

Yeah...Maybe it'll turn out to be a GOOD thing for his career that Disney kicked his MoCap studio to the curb after he couldn't deliver another Polar Express on demand.
Pride going before a fall, and all that.

Even though I really dug Beowulf, I hope that he puts his motion-capture phase behind him (unless he wants to do Roger Rabbit 2).

It goes without saying that his live-action movies are incredible. The BTTF trilogy and Romancing the Stone are some of my favorite movies ever. Even his few misfires like Death Becomes Her are interesting and watchable.

I'm very excited, going to be great to see him go back to live action. Slashfilm said he's even talked to WB about maybe directing the new Superman

Totally agreed! I feel like it would be fresh and new, very much like Richard Donner's movie

I'm a big Zemeckis fan, and even though Beowulf (the only mo-cap of his I saw) was okay, I'm glad to see him do a live-action movie again. I can also definitely see him make Superman, but either way, I'm good.
