Question J.K Rowling could do Harry Potter 8 and 9?!?

Quote:
As November 2010 and July 2011 bring the last books in the Harry Potter franchise to the big screen, author J.K. Rowling implies that more adventures in the world of Hogwarts could be in store.

Rowling appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show today, and when she was asked if she will ever write another Potter story again, she said: "They're all still in my head. I could definitely write 8 or 9."

EW.com spoke with Rowling as well. Their take on it? Rowling is definitely open to writing "an eighth, ninth, tenth" Potter novel, though she quickly followed up by saying, "I feel I'm done, but you never know."

So potentially three more Potter novels?!

Now, that's not 100% confirmation, but given that both the creator of this world and its fans are quite passionate about anything Dumbledore and Potter-centric, it's a safe bet to make some room on your shelves for these books.

And if we get three new books, yep, we're gonna get three new movies. But what could they be about? Hogwarts: First Class? Dumbledore Begins? Future adventures with the Big Three?

Discuss.

*As long as we don't find out that magic is caused by midichlorians, I think we'll be alright.

I personally don't think we'll be seeing it happen.

If we do get more Potter books I don't think Harry/Ron/Hermoine would be the main characters but either their kids or new kids would take the spotlight.

Well if they are, I don't think they would be considered Potter books.

I would like to see something involved within the Harry Potter universe (as we know the universe of Harry Potter is quite expansive where anything could happen)

I'd be disappointed if they released three more books, the series ended fine to me, no need for further sequels.

Yeah that's what I meant like a spin-off or something within the Harry Potter universe.

I feel the exact same way. I really actually just want her to leave it alone. It's a perfect series the way it is. no need to mess with it

I actually wouldn't mind getting 3 more Potters about his adventures as an Auror, Riddle didn't have to be the last major villain during his lifetime.

They would have to be better than 6 and 7 of course, those 2 disappointed me so much I'd probably avoid the rest if 8 was crap. Not to mention if 8 and after suck, those would be Potter films that never join my collection.

And people at WB are drooling all over themselves at the thought of 3 more Harry Potter movies

JK Rowling said no, no, no more Harry Potter books. Then the publisher & WB put a check in front of her with a lot and I mean I lot of zeros and she decided that maybe 3 more books could be a good idea

I don't see the Harry Potter franchise continuing on, unless Rowling is teasing a prequel. Then again, another installment to the franchise is unnecessary, as it has been fine as it already has.

Things said on Oprah are different from things said in the real press (not to mention loopier):
No author wants to say "That's it, it's over" and end up besieged by organized fans...It IS over, of course, but much more diplomatic small-talk to say "Oh, who knows what I'll think up next?" (Also, if you're an author, doesn't make it sound as if you might be dried up and you've killed your one cash cow.)

As for Warner, they once threatened to exercise the clause in their marketing contract to make Movies 8 & 9 (and the book adaptations, naturally) without her, but those days are past.
Still, like Pixar's troubles with TS3, doesn't hurt to keep that original-creator insurance against imitators.

Well the way she was talking was it would be a sequel book after Deathly Hollows so.....who knows how this will turn out. I'm hoping for no more books, but studios and publishers putting a lot of money in her face may make her do it anyway.....

I like the Potter franchise, both the books and the movies. I would be up for more, but it seems like the story has been told. It concluded the main story arc.
More Emma Watson is always welcome

I think, with a proper gap, three more books featuring the big three in their years after Hogwarts would be quite interesting. Not interested in any prequels tho.
