Just received an email from Disney AU saying that the Diamond editions of 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Bambi' are going back into the vault soon in July.
So anyone thinking of picking up these titles yet but haven't might want to do so soon. |

^ I'm hoping the same would happen to 'Sleeping Beauty'. (What's not awesome about turning into a dragon?) It was put back into the vault just weeks after I got my first BD Player. And the more affordable US version is region locked.
Wonder if this vault business with 'Beauty and the Beast' includes the more recently released "3D Version" though? |

Sometimes people buy films for the film, not to collect and hold in glass cases waiting for the value to increase.

I agree that collectors take advantage of the system and I hate it. Speaking from experience buying Snow White for an exorbitant price but I like the idea of the vault because it can make great movies be that little extra special.

I'm still curious as to why Disney keeps screwing Aussie/NZ over with its releases. They always seem to take out the DVD's or digital copies from our releases compared to the US or UK releases of the same movies. For example we only got a one disc bluray of Princess and the Frog here, Pocahontas is missing the DVD's that come with the US release. Most if not all their releases since Beauty and the Beasts short lived three disc edition have been missing the digital copies the US got.
But my pet peeve more than that is when they split up the release, you want the Fantasia double pack? Sorry you have to buy two seperate Blurays at an individual cost higher than the US pays for both together. Tron double pack? What's that? Even the poor Xmen Animated series got single disc releases instead of the season sets the US received. Perhaps it's just here in New Zealand (which is weird in itself since we are supposed to get all the Australian releases) but I've noticed even Australia misses out too on occasion. That and New Zealand seems to either miss or get very limited releases at times. I still haven't seen the Fox & the Hound bluray here. Tho I've been told it made a brief appearance, musta sold out and not been restocked. We also didn't get the Fantasia double pack Australia got. I'd love to see them finish off their retro cartoon collections too, seems stupid they stopped Duck Takes, Rescue Rangers, Gummi Bears, Tail Spin etc one boxset before completion. I'd email Disney Australia if I thought it would do any good but I doubt it would. /end Disney rant Anyone have any ideas why they do this? Besides being cheap and cutting costs. |

It does seem even weirder when we do get those releases here in Australia - Lady & The Tramp is DVD & BD, as is Princess & The Frog, Tangled has a digital copy version, Tron and Fantasia are both available in double packs.....so for NZ to miss out seems very odd... |

Wouldn't hurt them to try releasing the collectors editions here and in Australia either. I've seen that Lion King, Cars and even the upcoming Cinderella have pretty neat editions with collectable stuff in the states. I'm a sucker for a nice set with collectables haha. ![]() |

I bought the Duck Tales 3-disc set from the UK, and I think it was cheaper than just getting just 1-disc here!
On the topic of Disney, how rubbish are their Disney Rewards items in Australia? I see the US one has some nice stuff such as theatrical posters for 'The Incredibles', 'The Lion King 3D', et cetera. But the only only stuff we seem to get here are colouring books for kids, and a couple of Jonas Brothers/Miley Cyrus DVDs. |

And yeah the prices always baffle me, DVD's, Blurays, video games. It's downright stupid that an invididual paying middleman retail prices and individual retail shipping costs can pick up a product from the UK or USA and pay less than from home. They mean to have us believe that they order direct from the supplier in bulk at a discounted price, pay discounted bulk shipping and then put a price tag on it that is more expensive than it is for us to order it from a retailer overseas even with all the extra costs involved of doing that ourselves?! It's no wonder they want to do an investigation into retail practices and pricing in Australia and New Zealand. Cause there is totally fishy stuff going on somewhere behind the scenes. |

Totally agree with you.
I'm pissed we didn't get the 2-Blu-Ray disc version of War Horse either. This isn't Disney, but when the **** are we getting the Conan films over here too? the originals with Arnie.. been out in Aus for MONTHS. |

Yeah, not long ago we got the twin pack too. Not sure if they've fixed the audio, I guess I should dig out my discs and check.

Perhaps if our local distributors put more effort into making sure we are on par with our releases with the rest of the world I wouldn't mind supporting them more...I vote with my wallet and import if the local release is poop haha :P |
