Default Wes Craven's My Soul to Take (Trailer)

Quote:
It’s been a while since Wes Craven has made a feature film (2006’s PARIS, JE T’AIME doesn’t count!), so horror fans should be happy that not only is he returning to the SCREAM franchise, but his long-awaited chiller MY SOUL TO TAKE (previously titled 25/8) is hitting theaters October 29 from Universal. Take a look at few new stills after the break.

Daemon’s Movies posted the pics from the film, which stars Max Thieriot (pictured left), John Magaro, Emily Meade, Nick Lashaway, Denzel Whitaker, Shareeka Epps, Paulina Olszyinski and Raúl Esparza. Here’s the premise:

“In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answers.

“Adam “Bug” Heller [Thierot] was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane. Unaware of his dad’s terrifying crimes, he has been plagued by nightmares since he was a baby. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that’s returned, he must face an evil that won’t rest…until it finishes the job it began the day he was born.”

Says the movie was moved to the 8th so it wouldn't have to compete with Saw 3D

Can't wait to see this movie been waiting awhile for it. So sick of the so called horror torture movies we have been getting lately. With Scream 4, this movie and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark we are strting to get back to the old school horror that is actually scary.

poster for the movie

I remember when "Shocker" and "Deadly Friend" (the latter of which had our heroine having nightmares about her abusive dad coming back as a burned killer) came out after the first Elm Street, we claimed that Wes was "stuck in a rut" after his one hit.

...Think he's fallen back in again.

We haven’t covered it very much, but in addition to the now-shooting Scream 4, Wes Craven has another movie coming up. This isn’t a sequel or anything, but it is very much in keeping with the basic Wes Craven methodology: high school kids are in danger thanks to an evil legacy that haunts their town, and may be possessing one of them. Check out the trailer for the film, My Soul to Take, after the break.

There was a moment where I thought this might be more than the same old high school supernatural slasher setup, but, well, it doesn’t seem to be. There are a few flashes of interesting things in the trailer. (Like that image above — what the hell is that?) But for the most part this looks entirely like the elements of six or seven other movies shuffled around.

See the trailer in HD at Yahoo.

Does anyone know what the budget actually is to this film?

It was said to b 50 mil but now 15?

15 seems more like it. I can see Wes making a profit with with 15 not 50.

And yes I am a Craven fan, I just think this doesn't look good and the test screening reactions are very mixed.

I think it looks awesome. Certainly looks better than Paranornal Activity 2 and Saw 7000

Is anyone looking forward to seeing this? When I read the synopsis months ago I was excited to see it, but after seeing the trailers I'm not sure I do anymore.

The trailers that I have seen makes me think its just a rehash of A Nightmare on Elm Street? Am I missing something?
