Default Standard digital tv's

I currently only have a standard digital tv (sony triniton) and I wanted to know if a blu-ray/hd-dvd player would be able to be connected in any way?

Yes via analog inputs but I don't think it'd be too worthwhile to purchase an HD player if you don't have an HDTV.

If you watch a high definition picture on a standard def tv, at best you'll get a slightly higher quality standard def picture, though probably it will look little different to a standard def picture. If I were you I'd wait until I could afford to buy a large HDTV of at least 32" or preferably higher with minimum 1280 by 720 and at least 1 HDMI input.

Broadcast TV is only 480i ines of resolution. A digital tv should be able to support 480P. If blu-ray is smart, the players would support a resolution closer to the tv's true capacity. Maybe 525i/p.

It would be easy, have the setup program test that resolution for 5-10 seconds. Ask if the user saw a picture, if yes...you got 525i/p. 9.3% sharper picture.

Gotta love my Sony HD-300 box, as it lets me play native HD as broadcasted, but convert 480i to 480P. I choose not to up convert as I don't really see a benefit.

Wink Original NTSC

The 525i system was the original NTSC standard. The first field (of the two field frame) started with a full line and ended with a half line. The send field started with a half line and ended with a full line. Thus there were really two 262.5 line fields per 525 line frame.

Virtually all CRT TVs will support this mode.
