Cameron/Jolie - "Cleopatra" in 3D...?!

Jolie, James Cameron Plan 3D "Cleopatra" ?

Angelina Jolie, filmmaker James Cameron and Sony Pictures are considering teaming for a PG-13 3D feature based on the life of ancient Egyptian ruler Cleopatra.

The project has been in development since 2006 and will be based on Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Stacy Schiff's new book, "Cleopatra: A Life". Scott Rudin is producing and Jolie became attached to star back in June.

Now, Deadline reports that scribe Brian Helgeland has turned in a draft the studio is very keen on and hopes to get into production next year. The film is being described as an epic on the scale of "Gone with the Wind" and deals with "what the Romans took from Egypt".

It will also be far less romanticised than previous onscreen portrayals of the historical figure, portraying a more realistic Queen of the Nile using information recently uncovered which paints her as a more formidable and savvier leader than many think.

Cameron's involvement is less secure - while they have seriously considered having him onboard, there's no certainty it'll happen.

I like Jolie as Cleopatra. I like Cameron directing too, but Cleopatra in 3D seems a bit weird. We'll see.

Yup, read about this, don't seems like Cameron's type of movie though. But I don't think this should be discussed in this section though.

There was some hoopla surrounding the selection of Jolie for this part awhile back but I personally don't see any problem with her playing the part. I also don't mind Cameron directing this although I have to admit he seems like a strange choice for this kind of film. Also, please NO 3D!

Jolie only takes female action-movie parts where she can be cool, bulletproof and untouchable by males.*
Cameron only wants to depict female heroines as nobly enraged male-bashing mother-warriors with high-tech Soldier of Fortune machine guns.

...Jolie and Cameron DESERVE each other.
Whether or not that was meant as a compliment, is entirely up to you.

I will need to see more about this but from right now Jolie, Cleopatra, and 3D make this a skip for me. Thing that scares me the most is i get a headache from a 90 minute movie in 3D i do not want to think how it would be for an epic made by Cameron. Maybe just maybe i would give it a shot in 2D but i don't know.

Jolie, IMO, is a near perfect choice to play the Beautiful CLEOPATRA. Cameron in the Director's Chair for what will surely be an EPIC type film, how is that Not another almost perfect choice? Yea, it's not his typical genre' perhaps, but does anyone really think he can't pull it off? Whether it's in 3D or not, they always have 2D versions of those in the same theater (prob. for the same reason that some people don't like them; headaches, don't enjoy the process, whatever.)

You think JOLIE isn't a good choice for this character? I think it's a Great choice. CAMERON, on the other hand, is not Locked in. See the original post:
