I think that Arn Anderson vs Hulk Hogan match is where Hogan tried to put on the figure four, but put it on backwards. I don't know how he accomplished that.
I like picking up these WCW releases. I've always been a WWE fan ever since I started watching pro wrestling in the 90's and very rarely watched WCW when it was in business so picking up these DVDs and BDs that WWE has released has allowed me to earn respect and appreciation for it in hindsight. I can't wait to pick this one up and see some more.

WCW from 96-98 is easily better than anything the WWE has ever done.
One could make an argument for the attitude era which depending on who you ask can be anywhere from Post-Bret Hart to 2002 (when Stone Cold and Rock both left full-time) or the Rise of Stone Cold to 2002.
However without the nWo there is no DX, without Eric Bischoff (the on-tv character of corrupt company head) there is no Mr. McMahon character. Without cruiserweights, WWE would've never created the Light Heavyweight division.
I'm very bitter of how WCW was sold to McMahon. If you actually read about how it all went down behind the scenes, there's a lot of shady dealings going on. McMahon bought WCW for pennies on the dollar.

WCW did have its moments. wasn't surprised when Vince bought it and within a year it was gone and forgotten - anyone who thought he was going to actually keep it around didn't know Vince too well. how he bought it has always been questionable since Bishoff was all set to buy it and then when they lost the tv shows, he suddenly dropped it and Vince was there to grab it. Even Jericho said if he knew how much it would go for, he would have bought it so why Bishoff didn't buy it just for the video library is very strange. actually sounds like a Vince storyline
it is fun to watch the old WCW stuff. always had a different look than WWF and always Nitro always seemed like a big show compared to the early RAW's from the same time.

Then Bash at the Beach... changed wrestling forever. 97 was an awesome year with Sting saving the day every week culminating to Sting vs. Hogan at Starrcade.

Reports were Vince bought WCW for $4.2 million (2.5 for the name/rights and 1.7 for the tape library), which is an embarrassing amount considering how big WCW once was.

For me WCW started going downhill when you had Wolfpack and Black and White... when Sting and Luger joined the nWo it was like WHAT? The last two years was just wasted basically.
nWo couuld never be faces or love hate bad guys. Sting and Luger were the epitome of WCW's good guys and then they joined the more fan favorite version of the nWo and it was just like WHAT.

i agree wcw was fantastic during that 2 year strech. wcw was directly responsible for the huge boom period during that time for themselves and wwf. when you look at the product wwf was putting out when wcw started the whole nwo thing it was as bad as wrestling had ever been.
the big problem with wwf right now is that there is no one to push them to greatness. wwf is king dog and they dont have to be inovative any more. its kind of sad.
yes vince will always have the 80s and the boom that came with hogan. no one can take that away from him.
