I have been finished with my garage build since last June so figured it was finally time to post up some pics of the finished product.
I did all the work myself and kept receipts and accounted for every expense- every last screw, nail, tool rental etc. Total expenses came out to ~$4300. I already had a PS3 slim, Projector (Optoma HD70 I got for $299 on Bestbuy closeout), Remote, and screen. So the overall total for the entire build including all furniture and equipment ran closer to $5200. I have since added the air-conditioner so call it $5500. Either way my goal was to DIY everything possible and come up with a quality end product while sticking to a tiny budget. Front of Room (screen wall use to be garage door). Re-framed wall infront of garage door with 4" airgap filled with insulation- Double drywall and green glue used. ![]() Screen up ![]() TV wall is exterior wall of house. I reframed a new wall to accomodate a concrete footer ledge that would have precluded me from running drywall down to floor level. Double insulated with 3.5" airgap and double drywall and green glue. Fuse box is behind corner bass trap above equipment rack. Two 20 amp circuits were added for equipment and air conditioner. ![]() All wiring ran in-wall. Utilized a power bridge for the tv. ![]() This wall is shared with an bedroom/bathroom which is not used for sleeping in. Double drywall and green glue once again used. Front corner is former floor to cieling alcove for hvac and water heater. I reframed the area and added a hinged door/wall section comprised of osb sheathing and double drywall/green glue. Door/wall section is gasketed also. I hear next to no sound when hvac is running! ![]() Accent rope light controlled by zwave lamp module dimmer. ![]() Back of room- Solid core door leads to laundry room of house. Double drywall and green glue utilized. Riser is filled with insulation. ![]() Bar area. Corner bass trap filled with rockwool. Camera flash reveals stack of rockwool in corner trap- normally not noticable. ![]() Found close-out Italian tile for bar that were $1 each! Bar is 14.5" by 6' ![]() This small section of back-wall is an exterior wall. A/C vents to the outdoors. Dual hose design = no negative pressure. Outside air is pulled in to cool the unit so no air from the room is expelled to the outdoors. Room stays very cool- even on the rare 90+ degree days. ![]() LED step-light. Riser is about 14" high. ![]() Sono-sub side table. I have since revised this setup. You can see the folding wall section to access hvac in this pic. ![]() I built these speakers- LCR's are sealed tritrix on homemade stands. ![]() Shot of projector setup. I added the cabling but there was already an outlet in this location (for garage door opener). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looking into the garage from the laundry room. ![]() ![]() Room Specs: 11' x 19' with ~9' cieling.
