Players will be able to custom create their own avatar and enter in a deep single player campaign or join a real-time online multiplayer quest with up to three others. Six different characters will be available to control in the game, each colorfully brought to life within highly detailed environments. In addition to the compelling storyline, gamers will have access to over 50 online quests, and create custom weapons and items.

STORY

White Knight Chronicles is an epic fantasy tale about two kingdoms in midst of a longstanding war. The King of Balandor, wishing to put an end to the war, invites the duke of Faria to his castle to celebrate his daughter's coming of age. But this celebration is sabotaged by the Magi, a rogue sect seeking to steal the White Knight, an ancient weapon of war sealed beneath Balandor castle, in order to take over the world. During the ensuing chaos, a young man named Leonard accidentally unlocks the power of the White Knight as he attempts to save the princess. With this power, Leonard manages to fend off the Magi attack, but not before they escape with the princess.

With the kingdoms in chaos, Leonard is entrusted with the mission to find the Magi and rescue the princess. With the help of his trusted companions, they travel throughout Balandor and beyond on a quest to save the princess before the Magi unlock the other knights. The journey is fraught with danger, with Magi warriors at every turn, mythical beasts and monsters to battle, and forbidden powers revealed. As Leonard learns more about the power of the Knight, he realizes that unsealing all of them could trigger a calamity that could end the world.

Ditto. Along with the Resident Evil 5 and Final Fantasy XIII trailers. Would have the MGS4 trailers too but I haven't found really high quality versions of them.

These should all be on the PlayStation Store.

That's why I waiting for Odin Sphere on PS2. It reminds of the game for the Saturn "Princess something", that I believe was made by Treasure.

Another thing I noticed is how, on other forums I won't name, the 360 trolls seem to leave this one alone concerning exclusivity. You know how they like to presume Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 will not stay exclusive to the ps3 for long and how they already stole Devil May Cry 4 to us and all that nonsense.

Even they're not going to claim that a Sony-funded, Sony-published game is going multiformat.

Treasure made sweet games like Silhouette Mirage and Ikaruga. Someone needs to get Radiant Silvergun over here though.

And rubbish like Stretch Panic. Don't know why I bought that game!

Anyway, no WKS topic is complete without the TGS 06 trailer:

yep, you guys got it. To me, the old Treasure had almost a perfect track record when it came to their games (Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Silhouette Mirage, Yuke Yuke Trouble Makers, Radian Silvergun, Stretch Panic, Ikaruga, etc...) yet hardly anyone gave them any props. Level 5 is kind of in the same boat but they specialize in RPGs. I loved all their games so far and they've all been well received in the media.

Exclamation Breaking news

New info in this IGN article. Apparently, you will be able able to create the main character from scratch and make him pretty much like yourself. So is this a JRPG or a WRPG now?

I don't know, but it still looks awesome . I know it was discussed at yesterday's event, so if anyone can dig up some info, please post it here.

EDIT: Just came across some myself, this should answer your question:

Quote:
Level 5 president Akihiro Hino not only demonstrated a new trailer, but also played the game himself to reveal a previously undisclosed feature. The game will allow for players to create a virtual alter ego of themselves. This character can then be added to the player's party. This "character making" feature will offer a great amount of customization and in fact has been used by the development team to create the protagonist and the approximately 1,000 NPCs.

Looks like the main character will be set, while you are able to completely customize the other characters that will join your party.

Some more info revealed:

Quote:
he latest issue of Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu featured an interview with Level 5 president Akihiro Hino. The company's latest project White Knight Story for the PS3 is a fantasy-themed game where the protagonist must rescue the kidnapped princess. As you complete quests in each area, you begin to unlock other areas and eventually players will be able to explore the entire world map.

During the recent PlayStation Premiere 2007 event, a new battle scene was shown between a group of large enemy creatures and the White Knight, as well as regular-sized human characters well. Hino says, "In order to show the differences in size, it was important to place both large and small characters. The White Knight was originally set to be 15 meters tall. But then, it would not fit on screen if we put the small characters, so we settled for 7 meters in the final game which just fit in perfectly."

Hino mentioned that other than the rival Black Knight, there will be other types of Knights as well. He also described another scene from the same trailer, "There is a scene showing a city that's on the back of a giant creature. There are also giant insect-like creatures that are over 2 kilometers. We wanted to show the vast scale of this game."

Players can also customize their character's appearance. Faces such as those of Japanese celebrities were used as an example to show how much detail the face of the character can be changed.

The trailer from the recent PlayStation Premiere 2007 event and more importantly, a playable demo will be featured at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show in September.

I get the impression from one of those new screens that the overworld will be like Dragon Quest VIII's.. except WAY more detailed.

The character creation reminds me of True Fantasy Live Online's.. but again far more detailed with a much more attractive UI and character styling.

So, anyone has an idea for a release date? I think I want this game more than FFXIII now . In fact, every level-5 game is a classic to me (both Dark Cloud's, Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy). Very pleased that they're PS exclusive .
