I was looking at my collection of current blu-rays and fully knowing what will come out before the end of the year I started thinking about the definitive edition of the movies I have. As most of you I hate double-dipping and since the family budget is tighter than ever I said to my self only purchase the definitive edition.
![]() And since most film collections (the best ones) have been released to blu what current titles do you guys think are the definitive editions out there. What titles should still be released. The rules: Definitive title from my point of view: Blade Runner (5 Disc), Alien Anthology, Casino Royale (2 Disc CE), ultimate matrix trilogy and even BTTF.. What I understand by definitive is an edition that maybe doesn't have the best PQ and SQ in the world but for this film this is as good as it's ever going to get. Now for non definitive editions - good but could by much better and have the possibilities of being better where an upgrade would be appreciated: T2 (new restored transfer), Goodfellas (the same as T2), King Kong and Black Hawk Down (where are the extras). Apart from being fun and informative maybe this thread will get some studio recognition. So let's start.... ![]() |

I want Warner and Paramount to re-release all of it titles that were originally released with DD 1.0 or 5.1 tracks so that they include lossless tracks. Examples include:
The Adventures of Robin Hood The Aviator Casablanca Coming to America Cool Hand Luke The Road Warrior The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Bonnie and Clyde A Christmas Carol (1951) A Christmas Story The Cowboys The Dirty Dozen Enter the Dragon Flags of Our Fathers Mission Impossible Trilogy Ocean's Trilogy The Omega Man One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest The Road Warrior Rio Bravo The Searchers Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Sleepy Hollow Space Cowboys Superman: The Movie Superman II Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines Trading Places Training Day The Untouchables The Wild Bunch Wyatt Earp |

Personally, I wouldn't lose any sleep over films of that era having lossy tracks. Last edited by Bruce Morrison; 10-21-2010 at 10:31 PM. |

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is Region all from here which is vastly superior to the USA release. Don't you ever research?
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Termi...-Blu-ray/4593/ Pan's Labyrinth has superior film-like image quality from the UK but lossy original language audio. For Mission: Impossible Trilogy, I'm guessing Paramount will re-release these in an AVC or VC-1 BD50 with lossless audio when Mission: Impossible 4 hits theaters in 2011. L.A. Confidential Japan BD is superior to the USA version. Certain people just don't know importing is also an option. |

I see Casino Royale CE being mentioned as definitive. Assuming that you own an uncut version from the likes of Australia, yes, that would indeed be definitive. However censored, violence trimmed versions of the film from countries such as the US or UK clearly can't be considered as such.
