Default Please contact Universal and urge them to support Blu-ray

http://www.universalstudios.com/home...gi?email_id=10

Here's what I had to say:
Quote:
Please reconsider your stance of supporting only HD DVD. Universal is currently the only major studio not supporting Blu-ray. As a consumer I would much rather purchase a Blu-ray player than an HD DVD player since I will have access to a far larger movie catalog. I have enjoyed viewing dozens of Universal movies over the years and would be thrilled to be able to purchase them on Blu-ray. It's bad enough that we have two formats to confuse customers, please don't force us to purchase two new players. I for one will not. I would greatly appreciate a response to my concern. Thanks for your time.
I know it's a longshot but if we can get enough BD supporters to contact Universal maybe we can convince them to support BD sooner rather than later. I would simply ask that if you chose to contact Universal that you would do so in a friendly manner. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I have no interest in pirated movies. I want Universal to do the right thing. Please don't threaten them with buying pirated movies.

Well actually BD is said to have tougher copy protection schemes than HD DVD uses, so if Universal really hates pirating they should have already signed up to support BD. This is the issue that got Fox on board with BD.

Universal is kinda like the one person doing jury duty that decides to vote against everyone else and keeps them in hell longer...

Who mentioned buying? I didn't.
But ofcourse you can buy the HDDVD version before getting the pirated bluray version if it makes you feel better.

The point is you are suggesting that you'll steal them.

You guys have the right idea, but the wrong motivation.

Universal is counting on their clout to keep HD-DVD in the front running. Why? Well, they have invested money in it. They have stock holders to please. In business only one thing talks louder than money.. the stock holders. Many of them believe what the company tells them and expects results based on their promises.

While supporting a dual format would please techie-purist, does it put money in their coffer's? You are dealing with corporate execs with HUGE ego's to match their HUGE salaries. People who say "it" and expect "it" to be done. "I am the business trained exec with a masters in business. I make the decisions."

Things won't settle until a clear loser walks away with his tail between his legs.

Sure, I painted a pretty glib picture of corporate America, but these guys still exist. You need to understand market forces may outweigh the want of the consumer. Sometimes we get what we want, sometimes we get what THEY WANT US TO HAVE. Lot's of those bozo's feel they are in control.

Remember, at first blu-ray wasn't going to support DVD. But they ultimately listened when enough people said, "Screw you, then." Sometimes they listen. It's a crap shoot.

I realize it's a longshot but sometimes, just sometimes, companies listen to their perspective customers. I figured it doesn't hurt to try. Neither does praying.

I sent them my pleads. I hope they will listen. I'd love to buy the Back to the Future and Jurrasic Park trilogys on Blu-ray.

Count me in for those two trilogies as well. Both should look and sound superb in HD.
