IMO, Day-Lewis' best performance was in My Left Foot, portraying cerebral palsy-afflicted author and painter Christy Brown. Such a stunning, inspirational performance.

It's either My Left Foot (which I need to re-visit) or TWWB. However, my favorite is In the Name of the Father. Great performance, would love to have it on blu.

I def wouldn't say it's the best on the list--that'd go to My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, A Room with a View, or TWWB, but Mohicans is my favorite of his films--just an enjoyable flick and who doesn't love the score?

Had to go with My Left Foot. But high remarks go to his performance in The Ballad of Jack and Rose.

His performance in There Will Be Blood was one for the ages. So good, it should have won the Oscar 2 years in a row.

Agreed. It's one of the few where he's normal and enjoyable, to me.

I've never seen My Left Foot so I am at a disadvantage here.

Not with standing, Gangs of New York cemented his badazz character and There will be Blood is really for me (a solid film btw) a continuation to a degree of that character.

Yea, I was so amazed by his performance in TWBB, that I now want to checkout every single movie that he has made.

He is easily the finest actor of my generation. This really is a tough call but I'll go with There Will Be Blood. I didn't even like the movie very much but Daniel Day-Lewis carried it. My Left Foot and Gangs of New York I'd put close behind. Gangs of New York was another film he almost single-handedly carried.

* "There Will Be Blood".

-> But I also like his performances in "In the Name of the Father", and also "The Boxer".
..."My Left Foot", and "Gangs of New York".
