Exclamation HD DVD: The Butt of IFA 2007 Jokes (READ Articles - No New Announcements from HD DVD)

Seriously, for a good time, take the time to read up on these ridiculously funny new articles about HD-DVD's Day at IFA 2007. There wasn't a single big announcement. No denial of BD sales doubling HDDVD sales, still stuck up on their marginal lead in stand-alone HDDVD players, no mentionig of good HDDVD movie sale numbers, they even managed to ALIENATE all of us GAMERS saying that we are too dumb to watch and appreciate movies in high Defintition!! MAN OH MAN!!! HAAAAAAAAAA!!! You guys gotta read this, and notice the sarcastic Press commentary about the HDDVD group statements and the user community feedback in the neutral forums...even the xbox HDDVD owners are lashing back at these statements...I am so glad that HDDVD, with the exception of Paramount deal and the $200 budget player, has not offered anything new other than their lead in standalone players and their "70% share of the IT market"...WTH??? I am an IT anaylst and I participate in the PC hardware refresh planning for over 5000 employees, and we WILL NEVER buy an HDDVD player with our laptops or workstations...And when it comes to the REAL IT market, Bluray is the only available high capacity optical R/RW format out there anyways, so how would IT benefit from a READ ONLY HDDVD drive...LMAO!!! READ ON SERIOUSLY ITS REALLY FUNNY! and Most importantly it GIVES US MORE AND MORE HOPES to see how they are crumbling down infront of our eyes!!!

I'm not one to gloat. I will say that if I were an HD-DVD owner I would be a bit concerned.

While yesterday's BDA press conference was heavy on new hardware announcements for the European market, the HD DVD camp took a decidely different approach, focusing less on new products and more on what its backers see as the format's advantages over Blu-ray.
BDA press conference: Here's a bunch of cool Blu-ray stuff.

HD DVD press conference: Let's compare HD DVD with Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray (did we mention Blu-ray?). Oh, the public is pretty happy with DVD. And gamers don't like movies.

"The HD format is about stand-alone players, not game systems. We don’t think gamers will buy movies," said HD DVD Promo Group co-chairman Ken Graffeo.
Take that add-on owners.

Not buy movies?!??! What a retard!! What does he know about gamers?! I spend all my money on movies and have little left over for the games!

They paid Paramount 150 million for a breath of fresh air...

Almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

The word on the street is Blu-ray's day was going to be at IFA, and HD DVD is waiting for CEDIA to make their big announcements for Q4. We'll see if HD DVD actually delivers anything big at CEDIA, though.

Wait for CEDIA and we'll talk. Right now HDDVD _really_ blew it. Let's hope they continue to do so and don't read any of these forums to realize how much they blew it and do something about it before CEDIA.

I would be VERY concerned if I were an HDDVD Zealot right now.

Sacrificing the European market for CEDIA just makes no sense. If Paramounts reaction is any indication as to what CEDIA holds for HD-DVD, I would really be worried.

Other speakers at the comference emphasized the format's "ever growing list of worldwide supporters," its affordability, its lead in stand-alone player sales, and its higher attach rates, (4 discs per player, 7 times that of BD).

It amazes me the BS that these HD VD guys come up with... they have to come up with new lingo every day to defend their hopeless format!

Come on... attach rates? What a joke...

It's the same reading Amir on AVS all he does is say one sentence about HD-DVD and then spends five more putting down Blu-ray.

Amir can't stop talking about Blu-ray. I think deep down he knows he's on the loosing side and longs to be a Blu-boy.

Definitely Blu-curious at the very least.

Amir's livelihood is riding on HDDVD. The part of Microsoft (the HDi/Windows Media Player 9 (aka VC-1) department) that he is VP of will pretty much cease to exist if HDDVD fails and the VC-1 codec does not become standardized... same with HDi over Java. That's the battle Microsoft is fighting now and as such Amir.

He will be unemployed if it fails or even looks like it bad enough. Microsoft will eventually cut and run and he knows it. He also knows he'll never work in the industry again after the unprofessional attitude and behavior he's shown in forums and conferences if it fails.

Early retirement is probably not on his agenda and his desperate measures will only intensify as Blu-ray pushes further and further ahead. You just watch the FUD he starts spitting by turkey day.

I just can't wait to see what Ken Graffeo at Universal has to say when this is over and done with, and they are releasing stuff on Blu-ray, if he still he has a job.

The same thing goes for Amir, I wonder what he will say when his format is toast?

Probably something along the lines of, "Well, optical media is going to die off pretty soon anyways..."

Gotta love these goofballs, it really is a comedy sometimes.

Here's the irony of the whole thing, past Amir having worked for Sony once upon a time:

The Microsoft I remember was a company that put themselves into a position to "win", no matter what.

In this case, VC-1 could have been their endgame on both discs and their beloved downloads.

They already had just about every studio out there either use it or "keep the option on the table" including SPE, if I recall correctly.

If you have a unifed HD format this obviously means that much faster adoption, more sales, etc.

The studios that would use VC-1 on certain movies means that much more easy royalty money goes into MS's pockets.

^^ I'm sure this is oversimplified but I think you all get the concept.

MS is missing out on a nice gravy train and it's their fault.
