Default When u buy:Basic release vs. Deluxe release

Just curious to know when you guys buy Blu-rays do you try to get the most intense version of every movie or just go for the more basic and $$$ conscious release? ie; Casino Royale single disc vs. Casino Royale Collector's Edition or 300 standard release vs. 300-The Complete Experience.

Depends on how much I like the movie. For 300, I sold my standard copy and bought the Digibook.

For Avatar, I waited...didn't buy the single disc bluray.

For Watchmen - I have both the Steelbook and the Ultimate edition.

Usually basic. I'm all about collecting my favorite movies with the best possible video/audio I can get. I don't need anything extra.

For me as well, it depends.

Like for iron man 2….i got the 3 disc version for the extras.

Harry Potter I sold my original releases and am getting the Ultimate Editions now.

Usually I don’t care for massive box sets, I prefer to go for the versions w/the extra disc w/the extra features on them.

Depends on the movie.

Like Watchmen I bought The Ultimate Cut version, and 300 I bought the Digibook. But sound of music I'm just getting the basic version and not the super deluxe box set. So it really just depends on the movie

Depends on the price and movie.

If it's a bonus DVD, it's not too special to me.. Bonus DVD + Digital Copy I'll spend a few bucks more. Bonus DVD+Digital Copy + Extras I'll spend about $7-8 more. Even though I don't have a 3D TV, I'd go for a 3D BD if it's a few bucks more.

The problem comes when the basic edition is so much less in price that it's hard to justify it. Knight & Day, for example, is $27 for the BD+DVD+DC or $19 for the BD+DVD.

Only if the deluxe edition has something that elevates it above the usual added fluff/trash in a fancy box... like the inclusion of "Hearts of Darkness" on the Apocalypse Now set.

Most of the time I'm happy to just have the movie.

Yeah, same here. I don't do steelbooks or imports, but I prefer the best version of the domestic release. And if a bare bones version is released knowing a special ed. is on the way I always hold off. My attitude is that if I'm going to lay down my cash for something I want the best version.

Usually "deluxe" version over standard. This includes if it has even just a digital copy; I'd get that version over the standard version.

Yes! Even just having a slipcase makes it the deluxe version for me too.

I usually go for the best release out there. Sometimes I even hold out on a bare bones release if I even think they're going to have a special edition out at some point, just so that I don't have to go back and buy it again.

It certainly depends on the film for me, but if I like it I shoot for the deluxe treatment. Though I will have hard time deciding on The Sound of Music Digibook Target exclusive vs. the collector's set

Like most posters on here, it all depends! But, if I had to choose, no brainer...Deluxe!

I always have to get the best version (or, the version that has the most content). I don't really care about special packaging or anything though. I prefer the simple packaging.

One instance where I didn't get the "best" version was WALL-E. I skipped on the three-disc Blu-ray because I already had the digital copy from the DVD so I just got the two-disc WALL-E. I kinda wish I got the three-disc just because it has the slipcover.... it's the only Pixar movie I have without the slipcover =/

Funny thing is, even though I always like to get the most content... I hardly ever watch ALL the extra features. I guess it really depends on the movie though.
