Default Group your collection together by subgenre?

Not sure what forum to post this in. Any online tools to import my collection from this site and it will separate them by movie subgenre or plots?

I'm reducing space of our collection and putting it all in 6 disc bluray cases. Im having trouble deciding how to separate and put together the drama and thriller movies, it seems the subgenres vary greatly (to me at least). I do have them separated similar to my collection on this site but still seems like it is impossible to separate them to put 6 similar movies by movie plot or subgenre together in a reasonable amount of time.

Alphabetically would be easiest but I like how I separated a few others years ago. For example I have these in 4 disc cases.
faster, the rundown, snitch, walking tall
immortals, centurion, prince of persia, scorpion king
green zone, hurt locker, the kingdom, traitor

Wait....you're putting ALL of your movies into 6-disc cases to save space? Grouping non-related movies together inside one case? What about disc art?

Yes. Will keep them related to their genre and subgenre..as best I can. Manually going through all the drama and thrillers now, I think Im doing pretty good.

Heres a couple I just did...
Fatal Attraction, Disclosure, A Perfect Murder, Derailed, Fractured, Vanilla Sky
Heartbreakers, Dogma, Kingpin, Monuments Men, Nice Guys, The Informant (guess these are more like comedies)

Disc art and cases will go in storage. Will just print out strips to go over spine with titles. I have them in a dresser so the spine and text of the spine all face horizontal. Just hope I can fit 6 titles on a 15mm spine

Is this a bad idea? Stop me before its too late.

If you're determined to go down this path, wouldn't it just be easier to buy 10 disc cases and then group them by the first letter of each movie? They wouldn't even necessarily need to be alphabetical... just all the A's together and then the B's etc. Each time you buy a new 10 disc case for that letter you could just leave empty disc trays until you purchase more films that start with that letter.

For Cover art I'd just create a list of the films included inside the case for easy access. If you want to get real creative use a VHS as the cover art and write the name of the titles on the "labels". I've been using a VHS tape as cover art for my discs that lack other cover art and/or that I create from Digital HD renditions of films. for years now and it looks great. On a shelf it would look like you have a ton of older VHS tapes.

If you live in anything larger than an average dorm room, yes, it's a bad idea.

If you are keeping the cases (not just covers) in storage, maybe keep the movies there with em? It all depends on your situation and preference though. It's a road we all have to choose to walk, or not.

I think it'll much easier and time efficient for you to put the movies in a binder, but you'll still have to store the empty cases with the cover artwork, which you've already paid money for. If you're not going to use the cases that's going to be a waste of money, unless you decide to sell the cases on ebay without the artwork.

Thought about the 10 discs, I figured I get 2 more discs with 6 disc cases in the same amount of space than a 10 disc. Plus the 6 disc cases were cheaper and I found the 10 disc cases from tv sets seemed to break more easily than the 3,5,6 disc cases. Right now Im just going to focus on the dramas, thrillers and comedies. I like the idea of the VHS art with a 10 disc case.

I bought a case logic binder (8 discs per page and held 200+ discs) and was going that route but the back of the discs were on top of the plastic of the disc that was above and the back of the disc on the top disc wasnt fully protected either. Plus the weight of the pages when turning them seemed flimsy.
