I Lost My Friend Yesterday

Our 15 yr old miniature poodle "Chauncey" was put to sleep yesterday . It was our decision (with the Vet in agreement) and it was the most difficult thing my wife and I have had to do. Over the last few months, his health deteriorated to the point that his quality of life was very poor, so I know we did the right thing but it doesn't make it any easier. At least we got to hold him as he "went to sleep" and know that he went peacefully and without pain. And while my heart is broken, I know he's no longer suffering.

I can't believe how much I miss the little guy. At every turn in our house there is something that will remind me of him.

Why am I telling this to a bunch of people I've never met? a form of therapy perhaps? Or maybe to encourage you, if you are a pet owner, to cherish every moment you have with them.
