Hey folks I am looking for some software to catalog my DVD and Blu-Ray collection. Previously I used Invelos DVD Profiler and loved it. However I now have a MacBook Pro and DVD Profiler is Windows only.
![]() So far on my MacBook I have tried DVDPedia, Delicious Library, and iCollect Movies App. I like the layout and look of DVDPedia the best, but I am having quite a bit of trouble easily adding titles to my collection. The layout on Delicious is ok, and really easy to add movies but the $40 price is a bit high when I am not in love with its look. The iCollect Movies App is ok, but I would prefer to have a software solution and not one that is web based. So forum what other programs are out there that are good. Any feedback and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

EDIT: I didn't realize that DVD Profiler was not Mac compatible. Shows you why I have personally never owned a Mac. Last edited by HD Goofnut; 10-25-2010 at 01:20 AM. |

I really like DVDPedia the best and would love to use it but adding titles is like pulling teeth. The iSight barcode scanning hardly works and doing a title search brings up a ton of results that have nothing to do with the movie I am trying to add. For example I typed in Zombieland and the search came back with 2012 as the first result and 95 other items as well.

I use "iCollect Movies" iphone app. They also have web interface now. Inexpensive and pretty good.
The develops are very active and listen to feedback. They have great interaction with users at highdefdigest.com forum (and they frequently send out free promotion code too!) This is the developer's website: http://www.hookedinmotion.com/ Their itune link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icoll...ign-mpt=uo%3D6 |

I use Delicious Library 2. It's really awesome. Also syncs with an iPod and everything. You can also use a webcam (if you have one) to scan the UPC and it just scans right in. Very quick and accurate. I've had this software for quite some time now and have never had one single problem with it.
Why do you say $40? I got it years back and it was wayy less than that...wasn't aware the price shot up... |

A few weeks ago Invelos announced that their iOS version will be released by the end of the month. Details are under wraps, but it's been strongly hinted by the owner/programmer that it will be useable as a standalone option. Not quite Mac-compatible, but maybe it'll do the trick.
He also said that it will be <$10. Keep checking their site for updates. FYI: I don't work for them, but have been using the software since 2001; and I've been VERY frustrated at how long its taken to release the long-promised iOS version -- but it sounds like it may exceed expectations. |

I can almost guarantee that an OSX version will pop up in the Mac app store. OSX and iOS are very similar Under the hood, it would not take much extra work for it to be done.

According to Ken, it will only require one purchase (therefore one price; one universal app) as long as your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad are on the same iTunes account. The iPad version will also take advantage of the native iPad interface.

I just use the Blu-Ray.com's collection feature or DVDaf.com
Recently I found the app called Shelves for free. Its awesome! Lets me use my phone to scan the title right into my collection. Also has a section called Borrowed in which I can apply my contacts from my phone to movies they are borrowing. Helps me keep track of all my titles! |

Yeah, $40 is a bit steep, but I got mine originally for around $25-$30 I recall. I got it right when it came out way back. I'm glad I did too... |

You could try a virtual machine like VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/) and then continue to use DVD Profiler. But I don't know your technical knowledge as it can take a little work to get that set up.
