Default Blu-ray Media Material

What type of material (plastics) is (are) used in making the disc? It is polycarbonate? Are there specific properties required? Could PMM be used?

yes, polycarbonate it is, amongst a few other layers of course, e.g. a recording layer and a metal layer which acts as a mirror.
