Default Bigger Is Better For Watching 3D TV

For 3D - Bigger is better! - I was watching a Comcast free 3D VOD and it explained the frame effect - when you see the frame of the TV while watching a 3D movie your brain automatically put the 3D effect behind the frame so it really doesn't pop-out at you, It's like looking at the outdoors through a window.

So if you can view 3D with a large screen DLP or front projection DLP you will get a much more realistic 3D image. A lot of the current LCD sets or plasma sets that are smaller than 60" will not give you an optimal 3D experience in a large family room.

I saw the 50" Panasonic at Best Buy yesterday and it was simply amazing.I agree bigger would be etter but the 50" would look awesome in my theater room.

I feel like I'm tooting my horn, but that is why we have front projection.

THX creates 3D Guidelines for Home Viewing
...
Bigger is Better

Larger screens offer a more immersive 3D experience because they fill a line of sight, and allow viewers to focus on the picture, without distractions. THX theorizes that a TV or projection screen should create a field of view no larger than 50 degrees and no smaller than 36 degrees. This helps maintain the 3D effect with the right balance of crisp, sharp images.

THX adds that a bigger screen positioned further away from the viewer is better than a smaller screen positioned close to the viewer. It explains this theory in this way:

“In the real world, when objects move closer to you, your eyes must cross to focus on them. The same goes for objects in 3D movies and broadcast programs. As 3D images appear to move off-screen, toward you, your eyes must cross to maintain focus. If the screen is positioned farther away, your eyes will remain more relaxed, tricking the brain into believing the 3D effect,” the company advises.

When they make an HD 3D Projector for under $800 then I will adopt even if I have to wear glasses, as long as I get ALL the colors and no murkiness that 2D offers.
Until then I will stick with gimmick 3d anaglyph for flicks like Bloody Valentine.

Its inane to spend 2- 3thousand dollars for what...a 46 -50inch 3d hd tv, plus $100 special glasses, PLUS a $300 3d bluray player? Give me more gimmicky fun stuff like My Bloody Valentine 3d with anaglph so I canget the real wow experience RIGHT NOW with my 120inch projector!

I knew that a 60' screen is better, but 3D on a 50" plasma doesn't look bad either. When polarized technology gets cheaper and more available then I might be interested. For now I like my 3D TV and the image that comes out of it.
