Default DirecTV no longer "saving shows"

DirecTV has announced it will no longer pick up new episodes of shows that have been canceled by other networks and will instead focus on producing original shows or acquiring foreign shows for the 101. DirecTV picked up Damages after it was canceled by FX and saved Friday Night Lights from cancellation when it entered an agreement with NBC to show new episodes first, which has led to fan campaigns from fans for DirecTV to pick up canceled shows like Lone Star, Rubicon, and potentially Terriers. The 101 will continue to air some programming from premium channels like HBO and Showtime as a way to promote the subscription channels.

That really sucks as I was hoping Terriers would end up there if FX canceled it.

Let's hope any "original" shows are good.

Well atleast we have the potential to see brand new shows.

"There's probably 75-80 pilots out there a year that get squashed or shelved or never make it to network television or HBO, AMC or anyone else," Long said. "What I like to do is go look for a diamond in the rough, maybe content that wasn't applicable for network television, maybe the financing couldn't work."

There is little that would get me to switch from a land service (Cable, Uverse) to a satellite service. That said, if DirectTV had saved PUSHING DAISIES or some of my other most-prefered, gone too soon series, I'd have certainly considered it.

As I don't have access to it anyway, exclusive new programming likely won't get my attention unless it's by a producer of note, or stars an actor or actress I love to death.

Example: I'll be a subscriber on showtime as long as Mary Louise Parker and Laura Linney are on 10 times a year.

I agree. I really like Terriers and I hope FX doesn't give up on it too easily.
