Default Ebay Sellers... I need your advice!!!

So I just sold my 60GB Backwards Compatible PS3 on ebay and am a little worried about the buyer. He started asking me questions about the condition of the PS3 after he had already won the auction. The questions were asked in somewhat broken english, coherent, but definitely jumbled. I just have an uneasy feeling about the whole transaction going bad, which I do not have the time for. He has 27 or so 100% feedback but the only items I can see that he bought were screwdrivers. Lots and lots of screwdrivers.

Meanwhile... another buyer contacted me just after the auction ended and offered to buy the PS3 at the same price as it sold for, through ebay, if the buyer backed out for some reason. This buyer had great feedback and sounded very trustworthy and overall just a nice guy looking for a PS3 like the one I was selling.

My question is.... How on earth do I go about canceling a transaction? And do I have grounds to do so? The first buyer was in the US so is it safe to go ahead and ship? Will I get a credit for the final value fee from ebay if I void the original transaction? The original buyer has already paid. Just looking for some guidance. Thanks for any input!

Ship it out. I mean if he hadn't paid you would have options. But seeing as he paid you have to ship out or he'll just file a Paypal claim. When he wins all his money will go back but you will still owe ebay fees.

If he has paid and you have taken it from PayPal to your account then ship and be happy.

+1 I agree. I suggest you use a tracking number and get it insured JUST TO PROTECT YOURSELF. If i recall paypal will hold large amounts of money for 30 day UNLESS the buyer leaves feedback OR you input a tracking number on paypals website.

Signature confirmation is worth it. That way they can't say it was mis-delivered or stolen. Then when it's shipped take ALL MONEY from your paypal account to bank account until the feedback is left.

I've had to fight jerk buyers before (on Medal of Honor 2010 2 months ago) who "didn't want" the item anymore and used all kinds of lies to get Papyal to steal his money back. I fought for a month without use of my Paypal since I was "in negative balance" because they lock the money in your account.

Paypal hates sellers, always remember that.

Thanks for the responses guys!

To be more specific, he asked me about the condition of the item after the auction ended. I responded in detail with the condition and offered to refund his money before I shipped and cancel the transaction but once I shipped I would not be accepting returns. I said I wanted to make sure he was happy with his purchase and needed a definitive yes or no before I'd ship. This was his response.....

"Yes I still want it so go ahead and send it! It sounds like it's
worth the price so far! I thank you for answering all my
question quickly, now just wait and see the ps3 when it gets
here so I can leave my feedback positive or neg depending
on the ps3!"

I'm probably reading to much into it but I get nervous with all the buyer fraud going on. I've read horror stories about "item not as described" claims through Paypal.

Ship with signature confirmation if it is more than $100.

These are the ultimate screw you's to sellers on ebay. You described the item as best you could I assume. That's all you can do. Take pics of the PS3, especially the serial number so that he doesn't claim you sent a broken one and return a different PS3. This way you have proof of the item you sent.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Man oh man I wish there were a way to cancel without being out the $40 or so in final value fees.

So I guess everyone agrees? Ship with every safety measure possible?

Just make sure to put a note card or something that says YOUR username, and the date in the picture with the serial number. And save all messages until you have positive feedback. I've had to use them before when people word stuff like that. "depending on (the item)" crap annoys the hell out of me.

Thanks a ton for the advice. And yes..... extremely annoying! I have flawless feedback and I could just see this guy leaving negative feedback immediately and filing a false claim to get money out of me.

And then again... he could be a great guy and everything could go down stress free. I guess thats the chance you take with ebay.

My advice would be to avoid selling on eBay.
