Goldeneye 007 Blu-ray? - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone know a release date for Goldeneye on Blu-Ray?

I know MGM put a hold on releasing some of the classic
films till next year, other than the Rocky Box Set.

One of my favorite 007's besides Sean Connery of course was
Brosnan. I'm still waiting for Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies.

The official title is GoldenEye. I hope they correct the framing on the Blu-ray. I already sold all four volumes of the 2-Disc Ultimate Edition DVDs.
I still need to purchase the remaining 007 Blu-rays, except for Quantum of Solace as it seems lackluster in the extras, but am waiting for good prices and of course hunting for the slipcovers.

i'm also looking forward to buy both goldeneye and tommorrow never dies pal but tomorrow never dies hasn't been announced yet and goldeneye is still pending, GDM! let's just be patient maybe in the next weeks will get some news because I don't know you but lately there hasn't been any good releases all of them suck! just crappy movies, let's see some action!! how about some back to the future triology? It's a good start

Man, we need GoldenEye on blu-ray. One of the best, and one of the most popular, its a no brainer.

Just to let you know James Bond 007 Goldeneye is my favorite movie of all movies that exsist. So all you guys out there that are all bummed about your favorite "Bond Film" I don't feel sorry for you... but I'm right there with you for the fight to put it on blu-ray. There is no excuse for it to have not been completed by now.

You guys do know that MGM is in financial trouble? I wouldn't expect any Bond movies released either on Blu-ray, or in the movie theater for a while.

I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole, that is the only James Bond movie not welcome in my collection.

Let's be careful here. We all know why GoldenEye, or any of the other eight official Bond films not yet on BD, isn't out: MGM is going thru financial hell right now. They filed a prepackaged Chapter 11 earlier this month and are expected to exit it Dec. 2, with the secured creditors now owning the studio. The biggest financial issue now is whether Carl Icahn (who already owns a big chunk of Lionsgate, and will be a major MGM shareholder & board member post-Chapter 11) will allow Spyglass Entertainment to basically run the company, as their Chapter 11 plan contemplates, or engineer a post-exit merger with Lionsgate which would make him the combined studio's largest shareholder.

The currently-planned release date for Bond 23 (per mi6.co.uk) is November 2012, as a co-production between MGM/Eon and another studio; a bidding war is expected between Paramount (favored by Spyglass) and Sony (who made tons of money off co-producing CR & QoS despite their former stake in MGM being made worthless by Chapter 11), though that may change if they merge with Lionsgate. The common assumption right now is that the remaining Bond BDs will drop near the theatrical and/or BD/DVD release dates of Bond 23, like most of the current ones did with QoS. (Just like NSNA dropped about the same time as QoS, don't be surprised if the 1967 spoof CR--now owned by MGM, like NSNA--drops then too, with or without the 1953 made-for-TV CR as a bonus feature.)
