Default Amadeus: Directors Cut

This is a movie which demands the full Blu-Ray treatment, the colors and sounds in particualr.

does anyone have any info regarding a release?

There are several discs like Amadeus that have been done and are looking for a release date (I expect it'll come out as a coffee book later this year)

I thought it was excellent. The Mozart pieces they chose to play for the movie were perfect and I would love to hear them in all the lossless glory possible.

Totally deserving of Best Picture, and F Murray Abraham deserved his Oscar. When this hits Blu, I'm in. This is actually on HDNET or MGMHD and the PQ was excellent.

Amadeus is one of my fav movies of all time.

If you loves Mozart and Ingmar Bergman, although not yet on BD, go out and rent "The Magic Flute". It has been released by Criterion on DVD.

"TMF" is without any doubt the best movie ever made based on an opera. I can't way to see it on BD with PCM 5.1 sound

If they do this, I hope it has both versions of the movie, the Directors Cut kind of ruined it a bit for me. This is still a great movie though, and would be a tremendous choice for Blu-Ray..

Default Any word on a theatrical release?

Hello,

I LOVE the theatrical version of the movie. I ended up buying the director's cut on DVD and returned it the next day. The scenes added back in didn't have music to set the mood and seemed unfinished, tended to drag, poorly lighted etc. I only see a director's cut on BR. When I bought my BR player, the first movie I wanted to buy was Amadeus but I still don't see a theatrical release. Most of the time I prefer the extended cuts for movies but this and blade runner are an exception to the rule for me.

Nothing yet. I saw this DC first so this is the version I prefer.
