Ok guys this may sound stupid but hardware electronics is not my area of expertise in the area of the geek world
I had my second ps3 die on me last night (when it loads dvd's the disc drive makes a FREAKING LOUD whirring and semi grinding noise, much worse than the standard whirring it makes when it loads dvds). The service guy and the sony tech support both said the same thing. DON"T play dvds in a blu drive. it technically can support the playback but that the constant switching of the lazers and such from the position to play dvds and the position to play blu rays will cause catastrophic failure in the drive sooner rather than later due to constantly switching positions. Ok, is this bullsh!t or should I just get another stinking player for dvds?? logically it makes no sense being that a standard dvd rom drive can play both cd's and dvd's and doesn't seem to affect playback. or is the sony's ps3 drive just substandard and prone to failure (thank God I chose to pick mine up at costco years ago so I've never had to pay for any of my failed ones |
