Default YPAO set my crossover at 200hz?

is that correct? from researching around isn't it suppose to be less than 100hz?
in the manual for the Klipsch it says "suggested crossover point is 150 hz. If 150hz is not available use 120hz".
just trying to get the best sound from my simple set up.

Klipsch HD Theater 500
Yamaha HTR-6240

YPAO is just a starting point and isnt 100%, room acoustics, sub volume, alot of things can come in to play wen running the YPAO that can make the adjustments wrong/off, wen i run YPAO it sets my surrounds to +10db, when my fronts are +1db, thats a crazy gap, and my surrounds are closer to my listening position than my fronts
it is best to run YPAO, and then tweak the settings to ur liking and what sounds best to you
i dont kno ur speakrs, but if it says that should be the crossover settings, then set it to that and see how u like it sounds, play music and movies with different settings and see how it sounds best with ur setup and for ur ears\
ppl may tell u too set it up this or that way, but everyones rooms and setups r different, run the YPAO, and then tweak that settings that sound best to you

yeah im trying it at 120hz on my receiver and crossover(lowpass) on my sub at the max (160hz). to be honest i can't really tell a difference when i switch between crossovers on the Yamaha receiver

here are the klipsch 300 speaker specs
FREQUENCY RESPONSE System: 40Hz - 20kHz
Sats: 150Hz - 20kHz
Sub: 40Hz - 200Hz

This would probably be why. Smaller speakers such as these won't be able to go very low. The recommended crossover at 150 is where they should be, if you set it for anything lower, the speakers just can not play the lower frequency effectively/at all due to design.

I've not played with crossover frequencies this high in the spectrum before, so I'm not sure how audible the differences are (let's say from 150hz to 200hz). But you say you can't tell a difference switching between setting the crossover from 200 to 120?

Yes, that's is good sound advice. YPAO in my V663 doesn't get it right either. I always found that I have to manually set my speakers to the correct levels, see my post (#35).

yeah can't really tell a difference.
my receiver doesn't have 150hz crossover it goes from 120, 160, 200. do you suggest leaving it at 120hz like the speaker manual suggested if theres no 150hz or go with 160hz or 200hz(YPAO set). keep in mind my sub is set to max(160hz lowpass).

Darn! I was hoping you could tell a difference and then at that point it would just be play what sounds best.

If the manual stats to set it to 120 then that is probably what you should do. Sometimes you can also adjust distances with speakers and +/- db's. Have you tried to fiddle with these settings? I would try tweaking those to find some optimal results if you are curious about how the receiver is effecting your surround experience. The 120-160hz thing is probably a lost cause if it is inaudible to you - focus on other adjustments.
