Oh my. That is really pathetic.

even when Bluray slumps, it outsells HD-DVD.

The information is accurate. There isn't any biased reporting here

WHAT IT DOESN'T SHOW is that no big titles have been released in the last month or so. We're in the pre-Christmas lull where everything good is being held back for another month.

If you compared it with DVD sales, you would find a lot of the same spikes and dips

Yes, it will all change in a big way when the major releases start in around a month's time.

Wow...declining sales in a period of time that is historically a slow sales period for even DVD.

Yep...Blu-Ray is officially over.

Lets be honest, this type of reporting doesn't even deserve a response.

Starting at the end of this month with the releases of The WB's Smallville, then Troy and Underworld, we will have non stop blockbusters til December. October and November will be huge for Blu.

Actually, the article is very incorrect.

It states, and I paraphrase, that Blu-ray is declining 'more sharply' than HDDVD. Which, in fact, is simply not true. All you have to do is look at the graph to see that. It is VERY clear in the graph that HDDVD has dropped more significantly than Blu-ray at every single point with the only exception being a spike in April where no new Blu-ray content was released but many new movies were dropped on HDDVD.

This journalist even points out how inaccurate his stories are throughout the piece by constantly referring back to how incorrect his piece last year, or whenever, was.

Of course sales were declining this summer. When you don't release anything sales will decline.

No biggie. Sales decline in every industry this time of year. That's why you always have huge discount sales around now. This week alone I've bought discounted lumber, ottomans, foam, fabric, leather, stone and trees .

Only 12 more days until Christmas! Oops, I mean September 18!! Those will be very similar dates this year, won't it? I think I'll have to get a sharpie out and mark all of my Christmas CDs so Elvis will be singing "(I'll have a) Blu Christmas".

Logical fallacy in the report.

In December you had new blu-ray owners buying new and old titles to play on their new systems. From that point forwards they're just buying them as they came out. So you're going to see a decline. If we dropped a blu-ray in every home today, you'd see a huge spike in sales with the same ebb as people complete buying titles they're interested in.

It is basically a weekly sales report in the thousands. Yes, that's right - THOUSANDS!

The ONLY time the two lines met were around April 22 2007. After that, it became a summer lul. But the last point of the graph shows that while sales of BD players dived to about 30K, it dived down from 50K two weeks prior, with about 35K in between. During the same period, HD-DVD flatlined from 20K up to 23K (thereabouts) and back down to 18K.

So BD= 50+35+30= 115K. HD-DVD=20+23+18=61K. That's a difference of 54,000 players sold. Yet another example of how bad reporting/blogging can use misleading stats.
