oka so toshiba replied and shows it like this
55% hd dvd 3%DF and 42%BD what if toshiba also counted the df players as hd dvd tand alones? but not count them as bd and maybe infact lets subtract them from bd becuase the stats poeple alredy counted them as bd player maybe? ![]() if a "miss understanding" like this happened wouldent it look more like this? lets say only 100 next gen player were sold and toshiba said they sold 55 bda sold 42 and df sold 3 maybe it was actrualy like this toshiba sold 52 blu-ray sold 48 then . this mite not seem significant but wit a erro aceptencry or maybe any were from as high at 4% to 1 %? would be possiable if sony wasent mistaken and maybe hey actrualy just sold a lil more then hd dvd including df players? this is a very very long shoot haha but wit toshiba to fire back with almost same number but opiset gets my supisions up |

No need for creative accounting here. Toshibas numbers are year-to-date, total units sold until the end of july. Sony's numbers are based on weekly units sold for the last 12 weeks. Since both datasets do not cover the same period, and also refer to different things(one is total number of sales, the other is weekly sales compared), the more likely answer is that both are correct. Sony's is saying that they are gaining ground on standalone sales, and that seems to be backed by their data. Toshiba said that, during this year, they still have the advantage, which is also quite possibly true. Still, the news are bad to Toshiba, since they are losing ground to players costing twice and with fewer features(although the key ones, audio and video, seems to be the same), but they won't admit it.
