Default Moveable Subtitles

Sony Pictures Entertainment has implemented the Subtitle Re-positioning feature for wider "Scope" movies (movies wider that 1.66-1.85) on its Immortal Beloved Blu-ray. This feature gives you the option to move the subtitles out of the black area below the widescreen presentation and into the actual picture area for proper watching in Constant Height home theater Scope screens. What is your opinion about such feature?

Well, I don't have an anamorphic lens so I actually use it to move the subtitles as far down as possible, but yeah, I've used this feature before and I like it.

thanks

I only have a 16x9 TV, but the subtitles on the black bars bug the crap out of me. I sit there going "yeah umm... there's not supposed to be anything on the black bar, so why is there text?" I'd rather have the native text also...

I like the option of being able to move the subtitles to the black bars. I used to have a constant height setup and on the bottom masking had it matte so subtitles would show up if they were like that on the DVD. Being able to move the subtitles would make everyone happy. Those that want them on the picture and those that don't.

I haven't used it myself, but there have been several times on DVD where I wished I could move the subtitles to be able see them better.

I haven't used it , but I do think it is a good idea. Though I am not going to look to buy a title just becuase it has this feature. So I was not able to vote on the poll. It seems to me, unless it is technically complicated or time consuming to make this feature, it should just be a standard. If you can put cherries on the cake, might as well, right?

Cool

Sounds great - we often have subtitles turned on since English is not my wife's native language. I would use it however to move the text out of the picture where it often intrudes, and into the black area.

Moveable subtitles still lacks the option to change the font-size and/or type

That will be the next logical enhancement then. Size at least.

I'm thinking more and more of not getting a TV for my next update, but a projector in a CH setup. But even for TVs, being able to move the subs anywhere you want is a really nice feature. So yes, I hope Sony sets a new trend here!

That would probably be a BD-Live thing. You need to be able to download and store new fonts

moving subs and changing font/size can be *player* implimented... the BD software should have nothing extra it needs to do.

The color of the font is what I would like to change. That's far more important to me than the location. Still, every feature is a good thing so I voted appropriately.
