Default PS3 Problems HELP!!!!!

For some reason my PS3 wont read some blu ray disc (Easy A, Santa Clause 3, and a few other) no matter what I do. I have up dated everything and still nothing which is really to say the least pissing me off. It wont even say the disc is in the system or anything, this is a launch PS3 just to let you know. Should I just swap it out and get the slim because I have a 5 year warranty or see if I could fix it ( I am good at fixing stuff if someone knows what it is and I could fix it myself)

If the discs are "clean" and don't look damaged then maybe the PS3 does have a problem.

I would not try to "fix" it. I would see what you warranty says first.

Can you try those discs in another player?

Try all your BDs just to make sure that its not only certain discs that aren't working.

Had the same problem. It turned out that the BD laser gave out and ended up sending the system to Sony for repair and purchasing a new PS3.

Sorry that happened to you OP.

Your warranty should be void if you play Mr. Fixit so instead contact the warranty company and file a claim.

first turn on the ps3 and let it load up.when it done, hold the power button down until it beep 2 time and let it go and it will turn off . then hold it again when you are turning it on until you hear 3 beep and let it go. it should now show you 6 option. click on restore file system and it should say your system is corrupted and it will then restore. hope this work u, it alway work for me.

Thanks for every ones advice but I guess it was just the time for my PS3 to start going out, I ended up having to go out and get another and come to find out my warranty was out.

How old was the one that went bad, if you don't mind me asking?

Good run then, mine is almost 3 years old, it's had a few bad moments but otherwise has held up well over the years, despite frequent use.
