Default How long will it take you to complete watching your movies?

Just curious here
How long will it take you to complete watching your movies (BDs+DVDs)?
That is without repeated watching
In other words how long will it take you to watch all your collection from movie A to Z provided you watch everyday one movie.

For me I think with my current movies count it will take me 5 years and 3 months to finish watching all my collection

How about you?

My movies it would take 857 days but if I count in seasons it would take much longer because I can't watch a full 22 episode season in a day.

The TV shows def take a long time to get through. Lost, BSG, Seinfeld(DVD)...I've been trying to watch everything in my collection and I'm still only maybe half way through it. It's going to take a while, but I try and watch a movie a day. I'm taking the time now especially since I'm off from college.

For about 1500 titles, I estimate approximately 3000 hours for me.

Which would also equal about 125 full days. If I had 8 hours every day to watch them nonstop, it would take a whole year.

Would probably be much longer though, considering that I have some TV shows, miniserieses, some long movies... Might be more like 4000 hours (167 days).

Yikes.

EDIT:

Oh nuts, one movie a day?! That would be a little over 4 years.

Not including DVD's, looks like it would be about 4 years, 2 months. With DVD's, easily 7-8 years!

That's why I love TV seasons so much though is because the value you get. I love spending a few days watching a season of a great show. I have over 100 seasons between DVD and Blu and I bet it would take me almost a year to watch through them all at a realistic pace.

Way, way, way too long. I have like 170 Blu-rays that I have not watched yet, that alone will take me at least a year I have a feeling... a movie every other day average sounds about right.

This is why you have to wonder about people who have accumulated such large collections. It's unlikely they could ever watch them all. So what's the point?

Even if one feels they could eventually watch them all, what's the point of buying them now if they can't be watched now? Prices are going down over time. (I'm one of the idiots who paid something like $30 for Close Encounters, which is now selling for just $8.) It's generally better to wait to buy until you're ready to watch, except for obscure films that might go out of print.

So I can watch whatever I want when I want to. So I don't have to track down OOP titles and pay 3-4x as much for them later. Because it actually is a fun hobby ....

Someone should ask this question to someone who collects books, where the answer would be, "it would take me three lifetimes to read them all."

That is so true. A new Blu-ray release is around $22 or so and I'd say the average run time is 125 mins. I'm currently watching Mad Men...took advantage of that $10 sale on BF and picked up all 3 seasons. Ya..there's only 13 episodes but it lasts so much longer and as you said, they have a lot more value than a regular film.

Well let's see I have just over 100 blus so if I avarage 2 hrs per title that's roughly 200 hours in blus alone. Then add I'd say about another 300 hours for dvds including TV shows so at least 500 hours, give or take.
Now if you ask me about movies I recorded on my dvd recorder off of television well my mind cannot compute those advanced mathematics as I have over 400 that I made and depending on the genre, length etc., I put more than one film on each disc, and then there are television shows with aprrox. 8 episodes per.
Oh and let's not forget other video formats such as VHS, laserdisc and CED. TV shows that have approx., 8 episodes per.
But just prerecorded dvds and blus I would guess roughly 500 hours.

Probably a few weeks to a month.

On DVD: Aliens, Alien 3 , Alien Resurrection, Clash Of The Titans, Airport '77

I haven't atched a few of my star trek movies but only because when I got them, I had watched them all on tv. Heck they're on all the time.

Blu-Ray:

- 8 episodes left of Ice Road Truckers season 3 to watch.
- Whatever blu's I may buy this week.
