Question Should I double dip on these?

My DVD collection was rather small to start with..

the titles include:

Air force one
die hard 1 & 2
The Matrix
Pirates of the Caribbean

I have a few more but not titles I would watch again (can't remember the names anyways right now)

I for one haven't regretted upgrading The Matrix Trilogy and Pirates 1-3 to Blu-ray. The first Matrix in particular is a major upgrade over the original DVD transfer.

I double dipped on AIR FORCE ONE and THE MATRIX. I paid $15 for The MATRIX and AIR FORCE ONE was free with my Sony points. Well worth the upgrade.

I picked up my first blu-ray movie last night which is hostage with Bruce Willis. I forgot all about the Matrix Trilogy.. I can't wait to add more to the collection.

All of them.

And IMO, it really isn't a double dip when you're buying it for a different format.

I was thinking about getting Blus for Independence Day and the Die Hard Trilogy but I cant seem to find ones with the same bonus materials from the 5 star series - are they out of print or never done ?

Yes, exactly. I have even double dipped Blu's because of an upgraded audio format. As an example: The last Samuari, American version DD 5.1, Korean version TrueHD 5.1

Speaking of upgraded audio.. my sound system is a logitech Z-680 I got some years ago it supports DD and DTS but what would I be missing out on DTS-MA?

It all depends on the person. Most people would not notice any difference, my wife, all my neighbors, etc., etc. but for me, it is a must have. That is why I upgrade all the time and my wife and neighbors would never think of upgrading.

well the thing is it's in my bed room and if I upgrade as far as I know no computer surround speakers have DTS-HD MA so I would have to get full blown speakers and a receiver and all that in a already cramped room

Yes, they are all great improvements when compared to their DVD counterparts.

Honestly, I haven't found a single film that I have regretted upgrading from DVD to Blu-Ray. They have all been a huge upgrade from DVD. You won't regret doing it. If these are some of your favorite movies then go ahead and get the best quality out there.

28 Days Later. Somehow the digital noise is much more distracting on Blu-ray than it was on DVD, and the increase in clarity is minuscule. (I'm aware that it's an accurate representation of what the director/cinematographer wanted)

Still, I can't complain too much as I picked up the double pack and 28 Weeks actually looks much nicer than it did on DVD.
