Just looking at the Visions flyer, and on Saturday October 8, they are going to have the Under The Sea 3D Blu-ray on for $1. There are 300 chainwide, and with 30 locations, that should average out to 10 copies per store.

These are all left-overs from an LG 3D promo that didn't sell. Wonder if they will blow out all the 3D Fuji cameras for a buck to?
For a buck it's worth picking up, 3D or not. Not that I'm advocating spending money at Visions to keep them in business but it's a good nature doc 3D or otherwise. |

I managed to beat ilovedealsonmovies and snag a copy this morning. For $1 I can't complain, but I thought I would let you guys know that it is only about 40 min long. On another interesting note, it is narrated by Jim Carrey.

It's an IMAX movie. They are all about 40-45 minutes long.

I wouldn't have gone since I'm used to Visions being shady, and I wasn't going to waste my time however I did need to buy a few more items and figured I'd pick up this disc at the same time.
Went a little before opening time. Nobody was waiting, just one of the workers out front smoking. Endured 40 minutes of high pressure sales culminating in a very suspect story of how they had received these 3D discs but they got misplaced somehow. I've no doubt they'll be 'found' once sale ends. Tried a couple more of the 'one day blitz' sale items, and... big surprise... they had none of those around either. Naturally they had some other overpriced alternative items to push instead. One blitz item was actually in stock, but to get the advertised price, they were making customers purchase a $100 accessory for $299, negating any possible savings. In short, it was what I have come to expect at Visions... a phony sale and a distasteful encounter with some less than honest salespeople. |

It's not the blu-ray itself that is a junk gift, it's the fact that you spent what? like 97 cents on it. Personally I would not be able to buy a used 97 cent movie, wrap it up, give it to someone as a present and look them in the eye ever again. I never give unopened media as wrapped gifts anyways, so I tend to stay free of such predicaments quite easily. ![]() |

I think 'ilovedealsonmovies' once posted an dubious claim that he bought over a hundred blu-rays from Future Shop for under $1 each.
So the concept of a $1 retail blu-ray title makes it vaguely relevant to this thread. But even that is a stretch. I do wish 'ilovedealsonmovies' and the people calling him out would take their battle to a more appropriate thread. ilovedealsonmovies, post your story in your own thread and have at it. If you have some experience with Visions and their 'Under The Sea 3D Blu-ray for $1' bait-and-switch deal, then by all means post about it in this thread. |
