Default intercooler

I picked up the nyko intercooler for my ps-3 and was wondering if it's supposed to have hot air coming out of the fans? I know it's supposed to exhuest the heat but with all those extra fans i expected it to be eventuially push cooler air out as the internal temp would go down.

The 1 annoying thing about it is the back on off switch becomes blocked
so they have a 2ndary switch on the top fan UNFORTUNATLLY there's a speed dial but it cam't turn off the fan so you must turn off the unit which also
turns off the standby light...basiclly it's like unplugging it every time.

The speed dial should've clicked to turn off the fans but not completely
power the unit off.

I had the sound set to toslink but it defaulted to hdmi when i turned it off and back on.

Hope it really helps the ps-3 run cooler because i definatlly feel lots more hot air being expelled..much more than with the built in fan.

I've had so many bad experiences with intercoolers that I no longer buy them. And by problems I mean my systems usually stop working and such.

I read a review on ign gear before buying it and am aware of the 360 intercooler issues but was expecting this to be much better designed.
Ign recommened it and said the build quality was very good.
I wouln't have bothered but my 2nd ps-3 is in a warmer room than my 1st and
so i was trying to protect it by cooling it.
They were supposed to have redesigned the 360 1 to hold onto the unit better
as the original was fairly loosely connected.

Still don't trust it?

I havent trusted them since the days of my old ps2 and xbox lol, but I've had some friends that have had good luck and other that have had bad luck, all luck of the draw it seems. They stress tested the ps3 in extreme heat conditions, the last thing I would worry about is it overheating. But I can understand why you would want to keep it cool.

I've been running the same intercooler for about two months now and haven't had any problems with it. Aside of course from the annoying power switch, the LOUD fan noise- and I mean L-O-U-D. Oh, and yeah, it blows out hot air for me too. But hey, it has cooled my system down considerable. If it didn't work I certainly wouldn't keep using it

The constant hot air that's blowing out is a good thing because the job of the fans is to force the constant heat that's generated out of the unit. The test is to put your hand on the case to see if it's hot. It should be relatively cool to touch. Also listen for the internal fans - they shouldn't kick on if the cooler is doing it's job.

The bigger concern I would have is that the unit still needs time to cool down after turning it off. But, with the cooler blocking the vents and no power to the cooler to run the fans, the hot air can't escape as quickly as it should. For this reason I modified my intercooler to run off an external ac power source rather than the usb port. This way I can let the fans run for a few minutes to cool things down after turning off the unit.

You can still use the power and eject on the ps-3 itself which leaves the fans on until you turn it off-that's what i do.

I just wish the dial was the on/off and speed dial as i really don't feel the need to turn it off like i'm going away just seems like a stupid oversight.

Has anyone elses settings changed after the kill switch was used.
I had mine go from toslink to hdmi for audio with no reason and the only thing that was diffrent was my intercooler...i also had warhawk in but i expect the kill switch may default some settings regardless of what you have set up.
