I seem to get very choppy playback on my laptop. The sound skips, as does the picture, but there are periods where it works fine. I use PowerDVD 9 with the latest update installed. It seems to be worse on Universal BDs (Back to the Future, Inglourious Basterds). I was watching Reservoir Dogs the other day and it was fine for the most part, although the sound got choppy near the end. Not in the same way it does with the Universal discs, you know when you lose the signal on a radio and it sounds like some kind of alien broadcast? Weird comparison, but it's the only way I can think to describe it. I managed to watch 2010: The Year We Make Contact fine.
It started to happen with Lost as well, only not very often and it never used to happen before when I watched them. One episode during Season 3 it actually froze the player about 20 minutes it and I couldn't watch that part without it happening. Skipping a few minutes past it worked, but it just wouldn't run through that scene. That could be a disc problem, but it never happened the first time I watched it about 8 months before. So that's about everything I can think of. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
