Was a kid when it first came out and I loved it! Watched it recently as an adult and while I still enjoyed it, it seemed rather campy. Didn't see it that way back then. Anyone else see it this way now?

Campy is the last word I would use to describe Platoon!

Well after watching it recently, it was the first that came to mind. Again, not knocking it.

I haven't had any Deltamac releases, but what is their main line concerning region encoding? (I have only Region B player)
At least the Dollar trilogy (MGM also) is region free, so any hopes for this release also?

I also understood that Deltamac uses the exact same transfers etc as Fox / MGM, am I correct? Or is there also a possibility that this release is their "own" working?

Campy? How is it campy? What I saw was a serious, well acted, gut wrenching drama. I don't think that Oliver Stone would have dedicated this film to all those who fought and died in the Vietnam war, if he made it "campy".
And I wouldn't want to get the BD if it were campy.

Compared to Apocalypse Now and even older Vietnam war movies like Don't Cry, It's Only Thunder and even Full Metal Jacket, it just seemed like high cap to me. Hammy acting too. And again I am NOT knocking this movie. Still like it and will buy it when it is released on blu.

I eagerly await PLATOON. No I don't see camp or "hammy" acting in it at all. But for some real hammy or even horrible acting, and definite high camp, THE GREEN BERET is chock full of it.

No doubt about Green Berets. I can't believe no one else see's the camp in Platoon, though.

OK you're going to have to give us your interpretation of what "camp" is.

+1. I am a little surprised this hasn't been announced as of yet. I bet it will hit in 2011, for a 25th Anniversary Edition.

My guess as well. This is an outstanding film. Definitely high on my list of must haves.
