Default Director's You Own Or Plan To Own All Movies Of On Blu-ray

As there is a similar thread about Actor's

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ovies-blu.html

I thought I'd open one about Directors.

I am definitely going to own all movies by, duh,

George Lucas (Yes, I love all of his films)
Terrence Malick (Need I say more?)
David Lean (My favorite is still "A Passage To India", but they are all great!) and very probably
Charlie Chaplin (Comedic genius)

How about you, and why?

Akira Kurosawa is another serious contender, but I doubt I'll get all of his movies.
I also really like Peter Weir movies, but not all.

As far as directors go I'd say:
All of their careers*- Wes Anderson, The Coen Brothers, Charles Laughton , David Lean, Spike Jonze, Jason Reitman, Edgar Wright.
Most of their careers- Charlie Chaplin, Guillermo del Toro, David Fincher, Terry Gilliam, Alfred Hitchcock, Buster Keaton, Christopher Nolan, Nicholas Ray, Steven Spielberg, and Francois Truffaut.

*All modern filmmakers are subject to change, in case they suddenly make a terrible movie

Just being a fan of their movies and their styles, not really sure if they all have anything in common really, but I am going to own all the movies from these three:

David Fincher
Danny Boyle
Cameron Crowe
Christopher Nolan

Stanley Kubrick is my only one, though I doubt his first few films will make it to Blu-Ray.

Even Howard The Duck ? He didn't direct it but he did produce it. If so, that's some crazy devotion.

Michael Mann and Christopher Nolan

As to why? I think Mann is one of the best directors out there and is always on the edge technically.

Nolan - (IMO) he is the best director out there. He reminds me of Spielberg in that when a Spielberg movie came out, it was an event, even if it didn't do that well at the Box Office. Nolan reminds me of that. He is at a point that no matter what he releases, people will go see it.

On DVD, I've grabbed all of the following:

Alfred Hitchcock
Akira Kurosawa
Fritz Lang
Charles Chaplin
George Lucas
Danny Boyle
Quentin Tarantino
Buster Keaton
Andrei Tarkovsky
David Fincher
Terry Gilliam
Stanley Kubrick

There are others where I have "most" of their work, but those guys I grab anything and everything. The same will be true for BD.

Still waiting for anything from Osamu Tezuka.
I haven't seen everything from Satoshi Kon yet, but he's definitely a good contender.
Some movies from Hayao Miyazaki I thought weren't that great, but still I may not be able to stop myself when they hit Blu-ray in HD.

I'm close to owning everything from Darren Aranofsky, but "Pi" just didn't do it for me.

I own most, but not all, of David Fincher's films. I will definitely own them all very soon (especially once The Game and Panic Room are released on blu). Next up, I will probably collect Sam Raimi (I have a bit of a head start), Chris Nolan, and Stanley Kubrick.

I like a mixture, I would go for Fincher (who is one of my favourites), Aronofsky, Nolan, Mann (as an above poster said, The Insider, Manhunter, Heat, Ali, Collateral, Miami Vice and Public Enemies are great films). Of course Spielberg, still waiting for Jurassic Park (not too long left)! Brian De Palma as well, Kubrick, David Cronenberg, the list goes on! Martin Scorsese is one of the greatest directors out there! Tarantino of course! Have missed out many! Including many from the above poster! This is just a quick list off the top of my head! The list could go on... And on...

Can't say i'd buy a movie based solely because of who the director is but i'm sure i'll buy most P.T. Anderson, Fincher, Nolan, Tarintino, Eastwood, and Apatow movies.

Scorcese has too many older movies I haven't seen but I like most of his moe recent films.

The few Peter Weir movies i've seen I have liked alot, especially The Truman Show, but still too many movies I haven't seen.

The Coen Brothers are too hit or miss for me.

Other directors I like alot that haven't put out many movies Alejandro González Iñárritu, Ben Affleck, and Sean Penn(Into the Wild is one of my fav. movies).

I would like to own all of Christopher Nolan's, Zack Snyder's, Clint Eastwood's, The Coen Brothers, and Tim Burton's films on Blu-ray.

I currently own 3/7 of Nolan's, 1/4 of Snyder's, 0/33 of Eastwood's, 0/15 of The Coen's and 2/15 Burton's. Damn I have some Blu-rays to buy.

Nolan for his creativity and writing.

Snyder for the over the top action, but at the same time still believable.

Eastwood, what else can I say, but he is the man.

Coen brothers have been doing great work since Raising Arizona.

Burton love his eccentric musicals.

I enjoy all of them very much.

Just a note:

That should be 3/7 as there are only 7 possible films to own of Nolan's, 6 on blu as the Criterion Collection Following hasn't been announced yet. Doodlebug and Cinema 16 are shorts most likely to be included on the Following Criterion blu, and The Dark Knight Rises is only in pre-production.
