Exclamation Bruce Lee Blu-ray !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi people,

I've had the sudden urge to buy a bruce lee collection boxset and came to a conclusion that the "Bruce Lee Ultimate Collection" boxset and the "Bruce Lee 30th Anniversary Box Set" are the best, if not the only, boxsets to buy. Then I saw Enter the Dragon released on BluRay and was like WOW thats awesome (really top notch transfer on that). So in conclusion I want to know if anyones gonna plan to release all of Bruce Lee's films all on BluRay ? If so should I bother waiting or just buy the DVD version boxset and let my blu ray player upscale them and be satisfied.

If anyone has any ideas or comments I'd like to know,

Cheers !!!!

Raj

It's up to you. I say wait but if your that big a fan and you can decent price just buy the set as it will take a while for all his work to make into HD.

I vowed to never own another DVD but I broke down and bought the Bruce Lee Ultimate Collection recently. There is just too much legal tangling and I'd imagine they'd screw them up on Blu-ray anyway. Best Buy has the collection for $14.99. So if they do end up on Blu-ray, you won't be missing much.

Even though the Ultimate Collection includes Game of Death 2 which is an insult, they other legit movies are finally the correct aspect ratio and most importantly have the option for the original Cantonese audio. No fake english dubbed Bruce!

Yeah.. why not buy it? Its 12$ on Amazon for the whole set! I got it recently..

http://www.amazon.com/Bruce-Ultimate...3370315&sr=8-1

Be warned.. the English track on this is TERRIBLE. Some shmuck added sfx to the english track to make it sound more modern but it sounds terrible and is just slapped ontop of the original mix and also drowns it out. Ugh..

That being said the Chinese track is excellent and the PQ is the best I have seen on DVD. So if you are only into Chinese audio (which is the only way to watch Chinese movies) then this set is excellent.. for 12$ it is a no brainer. However, stay away if you want dubs.

I know FOX did several cheapo releases for Bruce's films back when DVD was new. I myself got Game of Death which has a horrible Widescreen transfer that is in 4:3 so the black bars are part of the picture.

I think the only film that is out on Blu-Ray is Enter the Dragon.

I believe Golden Harvest did all of Bruce's films in China, maybe since they have this mini-series on TV in China called The Legend of Bruce Lee playing it could spark some interest in Bruce's films going to Blu-Ray.

I kind of like the crappy english dubbing just as much as I like English subs...

I like both for what they are...

the poor english dubbing has more of a nostalgic feel for me because that's what I grew up watching...I am a fan of it.... for kung-fu movies only

If you can find the Hong Kong Legends UK DVDs that's the way to go for Bruce Lee films. They look amazing and have a ton of extras.

+1

It's the best overall set of Bruce Lee movies in terms of presentation and extras. Plus, the box is really classy. You can see pictures of it here:

Hey, people. Yeah I think i'll just buy the DVD boxset. Might be waiting a long time for the bluray releases. Also I am not fan of dubs !!! I hate them so much. Apart from some animes and thats if there done right. Anyways am from the UK so getting the Ultimate collection would mean buying the one-for-all remote and unlocking my player, which i cant be arsed to do. Does anyone know compared to the Ultimate Collection if the 30th Anniversary version has the same picture quality? Tried looking for some screenshot but couldnt find any. Nor any reviews with screenshots. I heard it was digitally remastered but they can still f**k that up !!!

well your username does remind me of an anime i dont agree with the dubbing on some actors like the main character but any other anime dub sounds fine to me. but yeah live action movies being dubbed is a whole different story

Yeah, he does. It was transferred from an older 1080i master and has noticeable jaggies on many diagonal lines as a result. It's still way better than any DVD version available, but it could look better.

I own the BD and noticed the jaggies, so I looked it up. It's been discussed on blu-ray.com before. There are a few Warner titles that suffer this issue, because of older masters being used.
