I've only watched it once, yet it left such a profound effect, I couldn't watch American Graffiti for a bit because of Paul Le Mat, lol. Seriously though, to leave such an effect from great acting should not distract reality, but it makes cinema a thrilling experience. And yes, Farrah was absolutely great too, but let's not forget Le Mat.
Also, Farrah was in another film that left a somewhat similar effect, albeit different circumstances - "Extremities." However, I only recall bits of the film unlike The Burning Bed. |

Good to know about this - not sure I'll purchase it (unless it goes on sale), but I'm glad to hear it's coming out - especially since the DVD is long OOP.
I did try to watch TBB years ago on the regular DVD, but it was scratched up (I had gotten it from the library) so I couldn't see beyond the first 5-7 minutes. From what I did see, the film was quite chilling/disturbing. Kudos to the late Farrah Fawcett for starring in a role like that that was so different from anything she had done up to that point (Charlie's Angels, etc.). I don't know a lot about domestic violence & was just a kid when this came out (and don't remember seeing it at the time), but I'm thinking this film brought more attention to this terrible issue. Even though it was a made-for-TV movie, it was based on fact & since FF was such a high-profile actress at the time, I'm sure it made at least somewhat of an impact. I'm sure it will be interesting to see Paul Le Mat in his dramatic role here (didn't remember much of him from the little I saw of the film). The only movies I remember him in were American Graffiti (1973) and Melvin & Howard (1980) - both great films, but his role in both of these was somewhat comedic. So, this film was a real departure for him as well. Last edited by AnamorphicWidescreen; 09-16-2017 at 04:20 PM. |

Wow! Never expected to see this come to Blu-Ray!
I was actually in the movie briefly (as Farrah fawcett's baby -- basically a quick scene going from the car to the house and then a bit inside). I've never actually seen the full movie though. The trailers didn't exactly sell me on it (which is terrible to say ![]() |

I saw the part I was in - that was good enough for me
![]() Everything I've seen of it has seemed far from the type of movies I've watched - with it also being such a small part, it hasn't had me trying to seek it out. It was a bit surprising to see it pop up on here.. I had to check to see if it was the same movie! |

So what’s the intended aspect ratio on this? I know it was a TV movie so I’m guessing 1:33. What’s the story behind the widescreen version? Was it prepared for oversees theaters at the time or is it a new version just for this release?
