A lot of shows don't benefit from HD but they still can cram a lot of episodes per disk and save on shelf space. For shows like Friends and Sitcoms I would buy like this, just so my shelf space is not taking alot of space. Anyone wish they would do this also?

Of course I will
![]() Blu-ray is only a carrier capable of carrying large amounts of data. I have absolutely no problem having documentaries/indie films/foreign films that were shot on video appear on Blu-ray, just like I don't have a problem seeing native 720p/1080i content appear on Blu-ray. I collect films, not discs, and because I believe that eventually DVD will phased, I would want to have these films on Blu-ray. Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 12-17-2010 at 05:13 AM. |

The only show I was interested in possibly purchasing on Blu was "The Twilight Zone" series, and while the quality is excellent (and a step up in comparison to DVD), it's just too expensive. Plus, I'd probably only watch each episode once, and I've never really been into television shows enough to warrant purchasing them on disc...
The only TV show I own on DVD is "Amazing Stories." |

I personally wouldn't get the BD unless maybe I didn't already have them on DVD. The amount of space it takes up on the shelves doesn't really bother me that much... I'm more likely to go for a DVD boxset which looks nicer as opposed to one that is smaller but less attractive. And I have a lot of TV DVD boxsets.
Besides, lots are pretty compact these days. Most TV series distributed by Warner Home Video in the UK (for example The Sopranos, Friends, Six Feet Under, The Wire) have a standard sized DVD case per season, or even thinner (though admittedly more shoddy) card cases each season. Also, I always think that TV shows or multi-film boxsets should look a bit thicker to reflect the amount of content... I much prefer the (thicker) UK Godfather set having separate cases for each film as opposed to the US one putting them all into a single normal-sized case, for example. But maybe I'm just weird like that... Besides, isn't there any rule against making the main feature of a Blu-ray in Standard Definition only? Personally, I can't see that happening. People aren't going to pay a higher price for a Blu-ray if it has no upgrade in quality when they can get a cheaper, not-too-huge DVD boxset of the same thing. |

If they put standard-def episodes of certain shows I don't own on BD, I probably will buy them. Would definitely save on shelf space.
If it's a show I already own on DVD, then probably not. Not unless it's super-cheap. |
