USA Scream a Little Dream 3D Blu-ray (2024) [Region Free] [BD-R] Indiegogo

So I mentioned in the now playing thread previously my 3-D short that I shot last year. This is the infamous short with the coffee cup being held out of the screen for those who followed those posts. Well, the cast and I have decided to go ahead and expand the film into a full length 3-D feature. To that end, I have launched an Indiegogo campaign for the film.

https://igg.me/at/sald3d/x/9640716#/

Full disclosure: this is a REALLY low budget horror film. It'll have a smaller budget than Robot Monster (no kidding). But it is shot in native 3-D using a DXG 3-D camera. The Indiegogo campaign has the 3D trailer we put out, so crack out your anaglyphic glasses for an idea of what it would look like.

On the Indiegogo campaign I refer to it as an 80s style 3-D film and it sorta is and it sorta isn't. There's definitely more eye-poking than what you might normally see today but it doesn't go quite as far as stuff from the 80s. Anyhow, I would appreciate anyone giving the campaign a look-see.

One final thing worth mentioning: it will be on a 3D Blu Ray (well probably a BD-R) in frame packed style as well as an anaglyphic copy and a 2D copy. But the Blu Rays and DVDs won't be available to the general public after the Indiegogo goes out for quite some time as I'm planning on sending the feature back into the film festival circuit. So if you don't contribute, you might be waiting a year or more to get your hands on one.

This looks really fun Todd. I think I was your first backer, I pledged earlier today after I saw it posted on Facebook. Hope you get the funds needed, good luck!

I appreciate your support. We're trying our best with it. I will mention that the short played much better in 3-D than in 2-D. The 3-D audiences got into it more. The film itself probably won't be as good as House of Wax or Hugo, but I'm hoping it's at least as much fun as most of the Silver Age titles.

The cast is really excited for it. If all goes well, we'll pick up shooting as early as March.

Adjusted for inflation...? Or will it actually be less than $16K...?

Actually less than the $16k. We have a couple of things going for us: we already have most of the equipment for it. Will need a new editing program to be able to do the frame packed 3D Blu Ray, but otherwise we're set with things like lights, audio equipment, and the 3D camera itself. Also at least two of the locations are the homes cast members live in. But the biggest thing is that thanks to the short, roughly half the film has already been done. This includes a 10 minute finale that we didn't use in the short to use in the feature.

There are some things from the short that need to be redone. If you've watched the trailer, the shot in the kitchen where the 3 women are talking needs to be redone since that coffee pot in the front is really distracting, especially in 3-D. We're also redoing the cemetery scenes since I'm not a huge fan of how they turned out. Plus I want to use a different cemetery. There's also a scare in the cemetery scenes that I think I can do better. There's a couple of other shots where crew or equipment pop up in the background that need to be done again. Not much, though.

The cast and crew are all non-union. That helps keep costs down as they aren't paid as much. But they do need to be fed and help with their transportation to offset that. For instance, the 3 lead actresses are all coming from NYC and we're shooting in Philly and King of Prussia.

Other costs for this will be the make up artist and we're probably going to pay something out for a couple of the other locations (including the cemetery).

As I said, this is super low budget film, what SAG-AFTRA would qualify as a Microbudget. Can a microbudget 3-D film be done and at least look halfway decent? I think so. I'm not sure what the budget for something like Halloween Jack or Camp Blood was, but I feel we probably won't be too ridiculously off that. (Watch the Halloween Jack guy come into the thread and brag he had a $25 million budget for his film!).

I will say that I have a very fine cast. The 3 lead actresses absolutely killed it the first time. The new cast members joining them are equally good. I'm really excited to work with them again. Even the new cast members I've worked with before. We had a read through recently and it went really well.

One final note: this isn't going to be a particularly gory film. I'm going more for suspense than blood and guts, more Psycho than Saw. That said, there are blatant out of the screen effect shots like in the Silver Age. However, coffee cup not withstanding, the majority of them are related to the story.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the film so far. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.

I'm kicking around doing a couple of add-on perks. I want to investigate doing a View Master reel for the film. I might also do an add-on lenticular insert if I can figure something out. Maybe that can be a stretch goal?

Todd, best of luck with completing this project! Used the last of the kids' college funds to back this. I guess they will have to play Beer Pong somewhere else...

I and my film thank the supreme sacrifice your kid's Beer Pong fund has made!

Thank you, sir! Your contribution is appreciated!

I'm in tentative negotiations to do a potential Lenticular Cover Insert of my poster for the Blu Ray version as we speak. We'll see how it shakes out.

This is the poster (or at least one version of it). We may do another poster when we do the feature.

Always up for more 3D horror flicks, pledged for the 3-D blu-ray! Best of luck with the production Todd.

PS: Any chance of making the original 3D short available as a digital download as a bonus for backers while we await the feature length version?

Actually, yes. I can do a digital download 3D version for backers. I'll work on that this weekend. Perhaps as an Add-On (an inexpensive add-on at that!).

And thank you for your support.

I've created two Add-On Perks for anyone who might be interested: I'm going to do a View Master Reel with seven scenes from the film. I don't know if Indiegogo allows you to edit your pledge, but if they do, it's there for anyone who has already pledged and wants it.

Second Add-On Perk is the anaglyphic version of the 22 minute short. I will tell you that this version has a completely different ending than the forthcoming feature.

We just got a pretty big donation earlier today. Don't know who made it, but thank you! And our first View Master Reel add-on was part of it!

We're sitting at $595--a little over 10% of what we're going for. Get us to $1000 by the end of the weekend and I'll post a never-before-seen clip from the film in 3-D.

I haven't decided on the extras but it's a possibility. I have another unreleased 3D short that may go on the disc instead.

However, you can definitely get the original 3D short as an Add-On Digital Download right now.
