I was in ASDA the other day and couldn't decide whether to buy Piranha 3D or The Sorcerer's Apprentice. As I'd never seen any of them, I decided to buy Piranha 3D thinking it would be good but it is simply one of the worst films i've ever seen in my entire life.
Has anyone ever taken a Blu-Ray back to somewhere like ASDA before? and if so what did you say your reason was for taking it back? I really want a refund so I can buy The Sorcerer's Apprentice for £16.97. I paid £16.97 for Piranha 3D and I really don't want it in my collection as when i look at it I think "why the hell did I buy that" HELP!! |

Sealed or not, Asda will always accept returns round here. Taking into consideration though that 40% of their shelved stock has been opened anyway. There are some stores that are a bit funny with returns though due to copying.
I say give it a go and take it back. If they get funny about it just tell them that the player won't read the disc and you'd read somewhere on the net about a batch of faulty Pirahna discs. That way you can always say you don't want to try another for fear of it being the same and would rather just exchange it for something else. ![]() |

If a Blu-ray has been unwrapped, but was sealed when bought, then you can't return it, because they won't be able to sell it again. If it was a more Blu-ray/DVD centred store like HMV then they might be more flexable, but for a store which doesn't deal in them as their primary stock, I don't think they'd accept a return.
The only thing I can sugest is to say it's faulty, as I've done that hundereds of times and it works, although I always feel bad about afterwards. ![]() |

To be perfectly honest, nobody goes into a film like Piranha 3D without having some a good idea as to what its going to be like! |

I remember HMV had a 'if you're not satisfied' returns policy above items on their shelves but I haven't seen that in a while. It doesn't hurt to ask. If the disc was behind the desk and already opened you're better off telling them a little white lie than fabricating a complex story.
One of my favourite episodes of Seinfeld had Jerry taking back a jacket and his reason was 'spite' because he didn't like the salesmans attitute towards his relationship with Elaine. You've got to ask yourself though is what are you going to do if you don't like A Socerer's Apprentice? You may have to bite the bullet on this one. It wouldn't have hurt so much if you'd bought it week one it was only £12.... |

Tell them it was unwrapped when you got it, you haven't watched it, it was a gift from your Nan, you already own it, and that you don't want a refund but to swap it for the other movie, smile nicely and if fortune is smiling back you should be ok. Good luck!
If you say its faulty they will most likely offer a like for like replacement. |

Just send it to me and I'll take it back to our Asda and swap it for what you want. Don't worry about the reciept being from a different store, it's still Asda.
I bought the Iron Man boxset just after Christmas. Opened it, watched it and returned it back to Asda (because the first film in the boxset is only 1 disc). It was still wrapped in the bag when I put it on the counter and asked "Could I have a refund for this, please?" The dude replied "Yes" before he'd even looked at it. As I said earlier, when pulling the faulty stroke, you need to let them know/think you know better than they do and insist there's faulty batches flying around. If they insist on like for like, just take that one back and so on (just to prove a point). It's gonna be their loss at the end of the day to have a boat load of the same title all been returned and opened. Sooner or later they'll give in. |

You must have an honest face mate. My local Tesco's told me no when I had the Alien Anthology DVD set with the wrong version of Aliens on it. The manager said she'd have to test the disc because of copying. As if they'd have a clue anyway (no offence to Tesco staff but this nice lady wouldn't know the difference between a Xenomorph and a Animorph)....

Look they sent you the BD which is working fine and u ordered for it so its morally not good to return it back with some fake excuse. Dont get me wrong dear but I dont think its right. You can sell it to ebay and I am sure someone will purchase it. Sometimes we make mistakes but returning a product which is working good is not a good practice atleast according to me. You have to be prepared for such if u are going to blind buy a BD. Try ebay as there are many young people who may want to own it due to lots of boobies and that underwater lesbian scene lol.

It raises the question about customer satisfaction though if you don't like a movie can you ask for your money back? If you don't like a meal can you do the same? It's a rather grey area customer satisfaction.... Last edited by chip75; 02-03-2011 at 10:18 PM. |
