Default Amityville Horror (1979), Carrie (1976), Young Frankenstein - October 7

The Amityville Horror Blu-ray

Amityville Horror (1979) was previously postponed from Oct 9, 2007 and Carrie (1976) and Young Frankenstein have been rumored for some time.

Blu-ray will drive me to a happy bankruptcy this year. At least i'll have lots to watch.

Source was releaselists.com

I'm going to buy it but I do not imagine the original Amityville Horror will look that good in 1080P. MGM is really digging deep into their back catalog.

And an anamorphic Young F, this time.

(And for all the kids who'd never heard of Blazing Saddles the last time old-catalog-discussions came up, I assume we've got a few fans who've heard of the Other Great 1974 Brooks Film?)

it's about time mgm releases something. a bridge to far and battle of britain has been the only releases i can remember this year from mgm. they have a huge catalog. hopefully we see better offerrings than the BD25 mpeg-2 bare bone releases they're used to putting out.

I'll take all three. And I thought September was going to be a rough month.

I went to highdefdigest.com and they listed Carrie and Young Frankenstein. Didn't see Amityville horror which sucks because thats the one I want.

September is going to be a crazy month for Blu-ray purchases. Lots of titles available for Q4.

they are probably just slow to add that one to the release list. They added maid in manhattan a day or two after the other Sony romantic comedies. I wouldn't worry about it. It will be posted.

Cool. I have been waiting for that release. I am hoping that they release the Exorcist, Cujo, and IT as well. Then I would be completely satisfied.

Default Amityville Horror

I don't quite get the review given to Amityville from Blu-ray.com. The reviewer kept claiming that the movie was a highly fictionalized account of the book which in itself was a highly fictionalized account of actual events. This is not true. I read the book when it was first released. As a matter of fact it's the only book I've ever read twice. The movie was extremely accurate to the book. The book, as well, had more things happening that didn't appear in the movie. Now I guess as it turns out pretty much the whole story is fiction in reality but the reviewer can't claim that the movie was so much more over the top than the book when that isn't true

They're discussing a remake of Carrie, so we may not see a re-release until that hits theaters. The girl from True Grit was being mentioned for the lead.

That's right. I did hear about that. I guess if there's one good thing about these pointless remakes, it gets the studios to release the originals on blu.
