Look at how Apple is handling the iPhone:

Start strong and follow it with aggressive pricing actions to keep the pedal to the medal. Sony has to stop dorking around with this stuff. Floor it now, own the market and make your money back on software and Blu-ray. Sometimes you have to ensure victory by being very aggressive. Maybe you don't do that if you are operating in a stable market and feeling things out, but this is about the survival of not just the PS3 console but their HD format.
