Default buying rca's vs making them

Technically does anybody think there would be any difference between buying http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 and using "GOOD QUALITY" rg-6 coax with http://www.techtoolsupply.com/Produc...ctCode=SKY9903 for running to subs or linking preamps to a receiver? I have an unlimited supply of coax I get from work for free and I could use it to cut custom lengths of wire instead of comming up short or having a 45ft coil of wire behind my subwoofer. Thoughts?

If it won't cost you that much - then, what the heck - go for it!

Monoprice's cables are so inexpensive, it will probably cost you more just to buy decent quality RCA plugs separately. And it's always a bit tricky getting a really good and neat solder connection, although it's certainly easier on RCA plugs than it is on mini-plugs. But I'd forget making my own and I'd buy theirs.

I totally agree on just getting them from Monoprice. Less chance of having problems I think.

I've made my own RCA's to run component video and L/R audio to an extra TV in the basement. I already had everything needed but the ends and they turned out great and continue to work great today. They have been in place for probably 3 years.
