I'd be very surprised if this was uncut. Sadly, it seems to have taken the same route as A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream in which the uncut version hasn't been available on home video for ages.

Oh are the UK blurays of those movies edited?

Hey people, I have this on DVD though I've not watched it yet. The only question I have is is it scary? And if so how scary .

(I've not watched it yet due to being a wuss haha).

In the sense that we get the bog standard US R rated cuts where previous VHS versions were uncut over here (okay, Scream has always been the R Rated version in the UK, but Elm Street and Candyman were uncut in the good old days). That's one very annoying thing about DVD/Blu Ray if the masters have been done in the US and the UK companies are too lazy to make sure that we get the full versions that we previously had. It mainly applies to films that came out before the trend for extended and unrated versions, they just fall between the cracks.

Hopefully it's slightly more likely that the UK would be unrated since the UK is being handled by Universal and the US would be handled by Sony.

Universal's UK DVD SE release is the same as the US R-Rated cut, so unless they do a completely new master, I'm afraid it it will be the same cut

Damn i used to own the VHS aswell, so might remember what scenes were there, but aren't now when i watch it again. Not so much a problem for Elm Street as i've never really saw that, but got it on bluray recently. Ohwell fingers crossed it's uncut once more!

It's the scene in the psychiatrist's office that's edited.

Ruins the scene for me so if it's still the R rated version then i won't be buying it.

I will buy the film even if it isn`t the unrated version. It`s only just 2 alternate shots that are replaced with more violent shots.

Well worth viewing. Modern horror classic. Avoid sequels.

I think that Universal and Sony work together in the UK. Hopefully this means a US release is on the way as well.

I first watched it when I was a tween. The whole movie, right from the start, is unsettling and laden with a deep sense of forboding. Philip Glass' tremendous score really alone gives you the chills. I don't want to spoil it but it has one of the best jump scares in cinema history.

I get that people want the uncut version but I'll be happy with the theatrical version. It's a tad misleading to say it's "cut" when really it's the theatrical version. Correct me if I'm wrong on that though.
