I fondly remember the 70's as a Golden Age for watching Tennis.

Have done a thread search in the Sports sub-forum for existing threads about tennis tournaments in general (eg: the Grand Slams).

You know Wimbledon won't be far away when Queen's starts (next Monday). The French Open is on at the moment.

This year's Wimbledon tennis Grand Slam tournament starts next Monday. Have read this week that the women's and men's singles final will both not start at 2 pm UK time, but 4 pm UK time instead (to do with getting higher ratings on US television).

So that would be 11:00a US Eastern Time and 8:00am US Pacific time. I guess ratings on the west coast of the US were low due to starting at 6:00am previously.

Enjoying watching the Rublev/Alcaraz match at Wimbledon this afternoon.

Something I haven't seen on the BBC's coverage of Wimbledon for several years now is the veterans tennis match that is played for fun and entertainment. I remember it being shown on a Sunday afternoon after the mens singles final.

Both singles finals at Wimbledon this past weekend were disappointing. The womens final was over in just under an hour and I was surprised at Alcaraz's performance against Sinner (with the latter, it'll be interesting to see what happens later on next month at Flushing Meadows (the US Open grand slam tennis tournament in New York City).

Saw in the preview section in the new issue of the TV listings magazine I get, that the US Open starts the week after next.

Having done a web search, there have been qualifying rounds for the US Open this week, with the first round (men's and women's singles) starting tomorrow.

Alcaraz safely through to the quarterfinal of the US Open after beating Rinderknech in straight sets. He has yet to lose a set in this US Open.
