Seiki SR4KP1 BluRay Player - Blu-ray Forum

I saw one (actually two) at a Sears store today, does anyone have any information on it other than upconverting to 4K? I have a picture i'll upload later of it. Do we suspect it will be able to go region free like the 212?

I own the previous two models and they were both region free.
The BD-660 is a great machine, so hopefully this new model
will be all region as well.

i bought one at sears (they also had 2)
it is a no frills bd player with no apps. I own 4 seiki 4k tvs 2-39"1-50"1-55"and
this player is in dire need of a firmware upgrade (stock version 1935)
I much prefer the Samsung upconverting models with smarts.
will try the code and post back

the 8520 code brings up a dvd region code entry of 0 thru 6 which sticks
and also a BD region code box that does accept change (set for 1)but can be changed to 2 or 4

Really, i was able to set my Blu-Ray to Region B without any trouble.

upon further review...with sk4kp1 it IS possible to set DVD region to 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 AND BD to region 1,2 or 4 (not 0,3,5,or 6)
hope this is of some help...as i dont have any BD disks to check other than region 1..firmware 1935
