Masters of the Universe Blu-ray

Warner Home Entertainment will bring Masters of the Universe to Blu-ray in the fall. This live-action adaptation of the popular children's cartoon stars Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) as He-Man, a warrior prince who must combat the evil Skeletor (Frank Langella, Frost/Nixon).

While trying to stop Skeletor from conquering the planet of Eternia, He-Man finds himself accidentally transported to present-day California. With the help of his brilliant troll sidekick Gwildor (Billy Barty, Legend) and a teenage waitress (Courteney Cox, Scream), He-Man tries to find a way back home, but his progress is stunted by Skeletor's minions, who have managed to follow He-Man to Earth.

The technical and supplementary specifications are still unknown for this Blu-ray, which Warner is marketing as a 25th Anniversary Edition.

The only thing I really remember about this movie is that Courtney Cox was in it; I probably haven't seen it in ten years or better.

I'm not expecting miracles on this set but hopefully the fact that it's an anniversary edition means Warners will give this a decent dusting off and some nice extras.

Really looking forward to this. One of the backbones of my childhood film watching and the first film I ever owned. Still enjoy watching it 25 years later.

Haven't seen this on tv in forever, loved it as a kid...never had it on vhs or dvd, will definitely get this! Get to see the credits at the end for a sequence someone pointed out before the great collapse. Skeletor really made the movie something special!

Why would it be awful now, when you've loved the movie as a kid? I know it will not have the same emotional effect because you're an adult, but the movie is still the same. It hasn't changed! You might be surprised that you'll like Masters of the Universe even more. You'll never know until you see it again. Some childish things, and habits that we've loved to do as kids, we will never outgrow.

I remember seeing this at the theater back in the day. The best part was a guy (I don't know how else to put it) that was unfortunately born with a mental disability, that was having an absolute blast the entire time. He was hooting and hollering the entire time, cheering for He-Man and the good guys. It made the movie 10 times better. I still remember that as one of my favorite movie experiences. He was so passionate about it.

I'll pre-order for sure.

i'm sure there will be subtle nuances that i didn't pick up on when i was a child, but haven't you ever gone back & watched something that you loved when you were a kid, only to realize it was absolute crap? i'm not saying this will definitely be the case w/ this movie (i am very curious to see it again), but i am dubious...

I had several of the toys as a kid in 1983... but I have never seen the movie. I might have to check out the blu-ray.

No! Actually it brings back fond memories, and I often reminisce about the good ole days. Not only Masters of the Universe, but classic movies in general. Whenever I listen to old school music, it has the same effect on me. I've always appreciated my childhood, and adolescence years.

Some do however outgrow it or rather they force themselves to do so. One of my buddies in highschool just stop watching Disney movies when he got to 16 or 17, said it was for kids. To this day he as never seen a new Disney movie, claim it's boring and kid's stuff. Some people are like that.
